whats best way to makey money in this game?

i just started it out monk and only have 5k cant even buy new knuckles lol i tried to find how to craft them but it says i need to be rank 10 Goldsmither doesnt that take 10 days to reach rank 10? so i will be with low level for long time?

Selling shards is always good. Levequests can be decent coin too. Doing Behests can net you like 5k per 30 mins as well and it's great SP especially at lower ranks.

You can get R10 GS in matter of a few hours. Local leves can level you up fast for free. They give all the mats to make several items.

FFXIV gives you lots of gil just for playing the game.

-Do your 8 guildleves every day, each will give you gil and SP.

-Do 8 local leves (crafting) every day---even if you don't like crafting---'cause they're fast, easy, and give you more gil (and shards, which you can sell for more gil).

-Go to a Camp appropriate for your rank, and sign up for the Behest every 30 minutes. Each one will give you lots of SP (up to R24, then considerably less SP) as well as 5k ish gil.

-Kill mobs in between other stuff for extra shards and/or crafting materials (to use, or sell)

-You can kill sheep (south east of Limsa) from R1, and they drop wind/lightning/water shards, and sheepskin (~7k each in wards)

-You can craft your lightning shards into wind shards from R1 Alchemy for profit
-Alternatively, rank up whatever crafts you want to---most of them make gil just by selling stuff to NPCs.


Gil is the absolute last thing you'll need to worry about in this game. You can rake in 100-200k every 36 hours doing leves quite easily.

Does that really work? O.o How's the recipe for that? I know the recipes with the fishies or the crystals into shards.. but that way from lightning to wind never came across my way. Please tell me so I can get rid of my useless shards xD (no sarcasm involved, I'm really curious if that works Oo)

Here's a link to the Yellow Gremlin database entry for "wind shard." Down at the bottom, you can click on "Created By." That will show you all the recipes (they know about) that you can use to make wind shards.

As you can see from the link, Tiger Cod or Striped Goby + 4 lightning shards = 12 wind shards. So not only can you make wind shards, you can end up with more shards than you started with. And it's just a level 1 Alchemy recipe.

Thats pretty cool, That would make it very easy to lvl up too. I haven't done fishing yet so I wonder how easy it is to get those two. Atm I am trying to rank up Blacksmith and Goldsmith for the crafts.

Tiger Cod and Striped Goby are both really low level fish. I think level 3?

I know for a fact that you can catch Tiger Cod at level 1 by standing on the docks just outside the fisher's guild in LL. Use lugworms, bloodworms, rat tails, or pill bugs as bait. Move the fishing depth up to +3 from the middle. And you can catch tons right away.

You'll level up fishing by catching them, and you'll level up Alc by converting them to wind shards.

Hahaha those were the days when next to nobody knew how to do this, and a wind shard sold for 500g/per... Made millions out of that lol, with Hasty Hands it felt like i was printing money

I am at a stage when I cannot profit doing the fights, leve behest etc. It is costing me more to have my swords repaired. I have no clue on how much is best to sell certain items in wards. Sometimes I just hope seeing someone seeking shards etc so I make gil from that lol.
