Question about leveling class/job

So I just hit 30 and unlocked Scholar. I was wondering if continuing leveling as an Arcanist while soloing is the best way to go? Will this still level my Scholar as well? Or do I need to level as my Scholar while soloing as well?

I know that leveling as Scholar will level my Arcanist at the same time. I was just wondering if it worked the other way around, as I have not tried it before.

Just do the sch to get in dungeons faster and acn for open world solo. Well that's what I did

All jobs level off of their class. So you could go as Arcanist to get your Scholar to 50 - but I (and a lot of others) would recommend unlocking Summoner if you want to go down the DPS path (you'll want to level Thaumaturge to level 26 anyway for Swiftcast).

You're pretty much done with Arcanist at this point, or any class for that matter. Once you unlock the job, you should focus that. Not only do they get powerful job-specific abilities, they also get boosts to their main stats, like Mind or Intelligence. Classes are only played if someone really wants to have five different cross-class abilities on at the same time, and people only go back to Arcanist when they miss Carby. And yes, if you level Arcanist, it will level Scholar at the same time, and whatever level you unlock Summoner, that will automatically be that level as well, since both jobs stem from Arcanist.

I did the quests as I went but put all my points into mind and figured I could just change the points later when I focused on smn

Thanks for the replies guys. I do realize Summoner would be the quickest way to level up solo, but I am really just trying to get to 50 as fast as possible. Unlocking Summoner means I gotta level a Thaumaturge to 15 (which yes, I will need Swiftcast as some point) but I will deal with that later I think.

As far as just focusing on the job, I do agree. I will be using Scholar to heal dungeons and group stuff. But for strictly solo content to 50 I would think Arcanist will be faster than Scholar since my pet as a Scholar does no damage.

I assume this is your first char. First stop and level CNJ until get cleric stance, this will make damage as a SCH much better since you swap mind and int and gain extra damage. You can use all your ACN abilities as a SCH anyway and all you loose is the pet and for solo it's not that big a deal. Instead of a tank pet you'll be the tank of sorts but your faerie will heal you instead.

You can use all your ACN abilities as a SCH anyway and all you loose is the pet and for solo it's not that big a deal. I'm weird and have a different character for all my 50's so I wouldn't say it is my first character. I've just never used my class past level 30 as there has been no reason for me to until now (with having Summoner not unlocked as well). I've got Conjurer to 15 on my Scholar already since that is the sub-class to unlocking Scholar. I didn't think Cleric Stance would make up for my lost DPS of having a healing pet but maybe I underestimated it.

When you start to get more mind gear with out int you notice the difference with cleric stance. My last 50 was arcanist and I choose scholar and still haven't unlocked summoner. I have six other chars and my 50 BLM is another chat but this char I have most at 50 bar lancer and thaumaturge.
