Perhaps you don't understand the allure of Open World PvP in MMOs because you just don't got it. Some of us got that urge. Are there enough of us to have a server or area with OW-pvp? Yes. Other types of players, socialites, PvErs, Storyliners, carebears etc. do not have to set foot in there ever unless you'd want to take the risk. simple.

SE has the resources and imo OW-pvp would bring more players to FFXIV so the server or dedicated area would pay for itself. it would not take away from the 99.9% PvE content we currently have.

Archeage has OW-pvp yes and many others. but me for example want to play FF and all it brings along with a tiny itty bitty area of an all-goes everyman for himself pvp. It may be an urge or plain testosterone, idk what, some of us just want it. If you dislike it or think it's toxic, it's cool. send us to the new server "toxic lands". I bet it'll fill and have enough players to pay for it and SE would make a killing selling us junk.

Wintergrasp and Tol Barad?

The problem is 99% of time Wintergrasp is empty. If you put dallies quests like Tol Barad, not mention it is another form of grinding, but there is not much PvP going around even on a PvP server.

I support this, if SE can pull it off, because I don't want to be in a server with a community torn between PVE and PVP players. I've been there, it's awful. If there's a demand for PVP and SE can cater to it, then go.

Lorewise, it should be done when our toons can choose side between joining Garlean Empire or stay loyal to Eorzea Alliance, hence the closest open world battleground lorewise too, would be the landbridge which connected sub continent Eorzea to mainland Garlean

Open world server wide PvP doesnt make sense to be honest. Thats why there are no plans to implement it

Most of this info in this post sounds like WoW , I also played on Sargeras pvp server. I am open to SOME ideas maybe. If I wanted to play WoW again I wouldnt be playing FFXIV.

ajx, Yoshi a while back said if there was a demand for such gameplay he'd consider it. And in order for it to make sense you got to like free for all pvp, no rules. some players dig that intensity in all it's forms. it's not for the faint of heart.

Hailie, open world freedom pvp has nothing to do with WoW. in that case other games nailed such gameplay before WoW, like DAoC. But NO! open world pvp is something big games like FF should adopt, it's 2014 and all big house MMOs will offer it in some shape or form. Black Desert, Archeage, Lineage Eternal, ESO etc. and guess what, some of us in FFXIV crave it. Are we enough to deserve a server?, I think Yes. take a look at this thread, it's picking up
