DoL/DoH Secondary Crafting Tools are Crazy Expensive!

Today I thought I'd explore some DoL and DoH classes, but was met with oddly high tool prices. The merchants selling tools had primary tools at around 1.5K, which wasn't too bad, but the secondary tools were all around 25K! What? D:<

I played during Beta and for a while after the game's official release, and all the tools were just under or around 1K. So, what's with the price spike? Did I miss something in my hiatus?

Also, the classes and tools I checked out were for Weavers, Miners, Fishers, Botanists, Goldsmiths, and Culinarians. I saw the same weird prices for all of them being sold by NPCs in Ul'Dah. The Market Wards were terrible too, with the tools being sold for 50K+.

Needless to say, I am a bit confused! I would love some advice on this matter.

Awwh, that's so confusing. Especially since the Weaver guides I've found online call for me to use the secondary tool in the starting recipes. Bummer!

In the case of weaver, that would be correct. You'd want to spin your moko grass into yarn and then spin it into cloth. Unfortunately that means forking out the money to buy the tool early. I suggest doing a few battle leves. That will probably get you enough to buy it.

Does that actually help? Using the secondary tool way below optimal rank might drop the given stats lower than the starting tool...

If I were you, I'd just get the R1 cheap tool. It will only take you an hour or so to get to rank 10 anyway, so it doesn't matter that much.
