Rod of the Luminary

So.. you get this rod as a reward for fishing thousands of times in different locations.
And... it is basically the same as the Halcyon Rod except for reduced durability loss.
Are you people high ?
I mean obviously you will get to the point where you fulfill the requirements of that achievement, if you re a dedicated fisherman. It will take a lot of time and takes you off your path to actually gain money from fishing because you will need to spent a lot of time fishing in locations that are not economically lucrative. And for what ?
For 10 Reduced Durability Loss... Slightly out of proportion maybe?
Help me out people, am I missing something here?

Achievmements make people do crazy things. Glamour is also a large factor. Having something that others do not. Long term goals are the things that keep people interested in this game.

Most of the fishing holes from Big Fish in 2.2 and 2.3 are spread out alot more now. So working towards the Luminary while still earning gil is much easier now.

that item is nearly 2 years old and 2 years ago it was BiS, do you expect coil2 gear being best in slot in 2 years, too?...

you can still use it for glamour, which is its intended usage

Now now. What's old news to us might be new news to them. Just glamour your shiny gold rod unto your foragers rod (when you get it) if you like its shininess. That's about it's only use.

What I didn't like is you got no new title for getting the rod. So I have to stick to Forestcaster for now.

Btw it used to be identical stats to Halycon, then around winter time SE adjusted the luminarys to have the durability loss as a bonus to the tools.

it was called 1.0 ..., its about 4 years old now and many ppl from legacy servers are playing for 4 years now with their current chars

official date of release was the 30th sept 2010, now spare us with your math

Back in topic, I recently got the gavel of the luminary (gsm tool) and I'm unhappy with how big it is. It's huge and goes on my back but then when I hold it in my hand it shrinks down to normal size, it makes no sense.
I know the devs have commented on it before saying they have no plans to change it but it made this great accomplishment something I don't even want to show off for glamour kuz of how ridiculous it looks.

It doesn't matter if its an item from before 2.0, what matters is that since the release of 2.0, its an achievement item. Even as of 2.0, before they added the "durability loss" thing, it was merely a "skin change" because the stats were exactly the same as the Halcyon Rod, which was disappointing and on top of that the requirement for the achievement was way higher too, but they lowered it.

It is still disappointing to see such items left in the dust and just be placed into the Armoire.
