    Okay, time to explain it as if I had to a monkey.
    You see a $10 note on the floor, you pick it up. No one else can pick it up because you have.
    You find a B rank hunt, you start to kill it. Others could also take part and earn seals even though you are killing it currently.
    One copy of the money in your analogy exists. Multiple "copies" of Seals exist for everyone that takes part.

    The whole mentality of they are server events is a creation of the players treating them like fates.

    Hunts are not designed for 50-400 ppl to kill 1 mob. It is why hunts are not working too many people are trying to kill a single mob.
    This is pretty much it.

    Unfortunately, the design as intended clashes horribly with the reality of the game as it stands.

    The rewards are too high, incentivizing EVERYONE to come as soon as a Hunt mob is called out. This means an entire server's worth of players rushing over to destroy something intended for only a small handful of people. This has resulted in a toxic community, a ridiculous amount of competition in what is supposed to be a highly cooperative game environment, and a ridiculously, ludicrously unbalanced rate of reward acquisition for those who can manage to get there on time.

    As far as I'm concerned, the content is a failure. It needs to be designed with the understanding that this is how people will consume open world content, and thus either Hunt mobs must be made instanced in some way, or they must be made to account for the fact that entire servers will be going after them at any one point in time. OR they must absolutely destroy the value of the rewards, possibly by making Allied Seals drop from every possible activity in the game, or by making sands and oils drop from a myriad of sources to the point where they become worthless.

    The worst possible scenario is for them to simply leave the issue unaddressed until 2.4... which I fear is exactly what's going to happen.

    Honestly I am betting money on them expecting people to not want to deal with NMS. They seem to think it is a dated mechanic that the majority did not want to do.

    Which is why I think they jacked up the reward to try to get enough people to even do them at all. My guess is they just completely miscalculated how many people want this kind of content.

    Is it balanced bad... Yea it is. Honestly Soldiery should be removed from it. Keep the other stuff and seals but the other stuff needs to be removed.

    Imagine someone pays to enter a museum, finds a painting they dislike, and starts to call around the museum saying that someone (the artist!) needs to be accountable for the mistake of that painting and that it was being shoved down their throat!     I completely agree that the hunts were handled poorly. They're out of balance. That said, there's other art in the museum of FFXIV. Its a game, a vast one. If the hunts aren't to your liking, I imagine there must be something that is or you wouldn't be playing. But if there isn't, why are you here?

    Its silly to say the developers should take responsibility for a mistake you perceive in their video game. Video games are a luxury item. If you don't like it, don't spend your money on it. Or if you want to help it be a better game, be polite and constructive. You said you're putting on your flame armor, but you're the one who started out by flaming the people who make the game. If you want respect, be respectful.

    I have a solution to this: make the hunt battle instanced. Like the quests where you have to enter an instanced area and have an instanced event there (the street fight in Ul'Dahg and the lvl 50 Summoner quest pops up in my mind). It stays there for like 10 minutes when it spawns, and you can form groups to enter.

    THERE, MAGICAL SOLUTION. EVERYBODY IS HAPPY.

    @WellFooled- You blame the player because I may or may not like a painting?... Huh? Your right it's their video game and with their video game they should plan, implement, and monitor their content better. So lets just say in your museum someone dislikes your painting and offers you advice how to maybe fix it? What would you do? Point at the museum owner for hanging it up in the first place or take accountability for it? And for the last part who was I disrespecting just because I called SE out on their flop or someone didn't like what I posted and knowing that mentioning "another" game someone would cringe and flame about it. No I shouldn't have to move on to other content just because.
    That vast content is a joke right? I'm not new to these forums and frankly the way I see it there has been so many posts about Hunts surely the devs have got the hint by now. Whether my statement is right or wrong its feedback purely based on my opinion. That is what these forums are for last time I checked but clearly is a waste of time.

    I still think Hunt mobs need to be treated liked Named Mobs in Everquest. First group that nabs it, gets it. Period. We didn't have all the drama back then.

    I don't see what the big deal is these days. Why are we supposed to wait 5-10m to kill a 25k HP mob that will drop in a split second?
