FFXIV's Card Game, A Plea

Please do not base it in RNG, you will kill any competitive value or joy that could be derived from such a beloved & nostalgic mini-game.

Both FF 8 & 9's card games had their own unique strengths & weaknesses.

Both are loved in their own way. However, FF9's Card Game was utterly ruined by RNG. Against AI, this is less of a matter, but against Humans, it will break FF14's v.

For those unaware, In FF9 cards were assigned a power value paired against an opposing card's defense value. An ungodly card could still lose to a bottom-tier card bc of true RNG.

It was all chance with probability mixed in. A card with power of 10 could roll a value anywhere between 1-175 while a defense of 1 could roll between 0-15. Sure, you up your odds having a greater power differential but you could still lose.

Please do not repeat this mistake in FFXIV's Card Game.

It's bound to happen. Very likely launched with the release of the Gold Saucer. They've essentially confirmed we'll get one, it's just a matter of time. I'm trying to intercept them in the development process to prevent another RNG-based blunder.

This is news to me, but sounds fun! Would be cool to gain a reward for doing well at it. Gain so many points per win ---> Trade it in for some card-themed vanity gear.

Tetra Master was a wonderful card game, but if we're doing it player-versus-player it wouldn't work, it'd be a joke if it's a direct copy.

A hybrid of elements from both Triple Triad & Tetra Master would be the way to go.

I would hope they would make it so it could be both multiplayer and single player. Some of us aren't that into PvP content, be it actually fighting in the Wolf's Den or Frontlines, or playing a card game like this.

Hmm... I didn't know that. Hadn't played it in a while, thought it was still around. Well then... my rally cry remains! Bring back Tetra Master!!

While I don't think Gold Saucer would have an actual, legitimate TCG associated with it, I do think it will get there.

Honestly? I wish they'd take this TCG suggestion to port in the Final Fantasy TCG, but maybe with FFXIV-only cards.
