How did you guys decide which Grand Company to select?

How did you guys decide which Grand Company to select?

It was mainly because my storyline started out in Ul'dah.

Admiral Whatsherface was more tolerable in cutscenes than than the other two leaders (especially with the English voices, which I've since switched off).

I spent most of my time in Gridania so that's my current GC. But I'll be switching shortly once I max out my seals. The rest of my FC is Limsa for frontlines.

I just went with the same Grand Company as my starting city (Gridania), as it made sense for me, seeing as Grid had kinda became Enki's adopted home. :3 The differences between GCs are just pretty much superficial at best anyway, so it just comes down to which one you like the best.

I have characters who started in each of the city-states, so I had each join the GC of their starting city. If I only had a single character, though, I'd probably go with the Immortal Flames. (No particular reason. I just like Ul'dah. Both the Immortal Flames and the Maelstrom have cool-looking crests, though.)

Pick the grand company whose leader you like the best/colors you like the best/city you like the best. There is very little difference gameplay-wise.

There are slight stat differences to the gear and weapons. For instance if you research in the eorzea database...the serpent sergeant bow has considerably less delay time than the flame sergeant's bow by almost a full second.

It leads me to believe that the benefits are due in location. Gridania Jobs benefit from the serpent company, limsa jobs with the maelstrom, and uldahn jobs with flame GC.

Although the difference is so small people generally pick by weapon appearance and grand company colors.
