We're really close to one year since when the 2.0 went live and still this game lacks an "Additional" service like this one (There're games that did this in the months following their release, not after this much). In the end, we're talking about something that became an importance feature for MMO games nowdays.

So what's the point of this topic?

Its purpouse is to finally make the development team (While I'd like also to have the attention of the EU/NA team) and Square Enix understand the amount of players that would like or feel necessary to see the tempestive implementation of such function into the game, with some real numbers.

Basically, by using a Poll.

Latest status.

I'm glad to announce that as per today Square Enix officialy implemented the additional service for the "Character Name" change. Finally, our demands became reality. Thanks to everyone for the support.

Because something like player reputation has ever stopped people from being a doucebag over the internet. We already have fantasia to change player appearances, why not a name change as well? Unless the fantasia purchase comes bundled with a name change...

Name changing service already exist. If it becomes official, then instead of paying 60 bucks and wait 3 days, it'll probably be 10 bucks and take place immediately.

They do that now with Alt characters, since someone decided that the blocklist was tied to characters rather than accounts.

No, but it's stops other people from playing with them. There's a few bad apples on Balmung that most of the server avoids at all costs. A name change would give them a clean slate.

Well... changing the name to "clean" your reputation will not likely work as you said. For example: when I want to avoid someone I directly blacklist the guy/girl without reserve. So that doesn't mean he/she will dissappear from the group, that someone will still remain in there just with a different nickname (With the right adjustements from the team). Without to mention that if someone is not really much "mature" (Let's put it like that) I'm sure he/she will surely make the same bullsh*ts and gain that bad reputation back within weeks. If not then that's a good thing I guess, it means that there will likely not be much problems with that invididual in the future.

I want this feature because I don't want to do what other folks have suggested and pay for server transfers, just for a name change.

I am an RPer; I changed my Miqo'te character to a Hyur just recently and now I'm stuck with a name that doesn't fit my character because this game doesn't have a name change feature.

As I said in the poll comment, I can think of a few people in my circle other than myself who would also greatly appreciate a name change option, even if it is a paid service.

When the game was first released, a lot of us were in a rush to play, and didn't have time to make up a good name that wasn't chosen.
I'd really like the chance to have an OC of mine in there, and my boyfriend's name choice...is cringeworthy. Pretty sure he'd pay for a change too. xD
