So, given the pros (RP'ers might wanna change their name to suit their characters) and the cons (bad apples may be able to turn up unannounced), then surely the best way would be to allow you to change your name once in.. say.. every three months or so? Make it possible but limit it somehow? :P

Not being able to change my name is what is keeping me from using my fantasia. I wanted to swap from lalafell to miqote or hyur but my name wouldn't fit them well.

My cousin and I thought it would be fun to have our characters share a last name, but since then we have been harassed about being a couple. This has been happening since the ARR came out, and we are both quite sick of it. I would love to change my name, and I have sent in a ticket asking for a name change to stop the harassment but to no avail.
I would be willing to pay for this feature. Please, please, PLEASE bring it into the game.

You won't really be able to escape disagreeable people. I don't think we should exclude a good feature simply because someone might abuse it. I'm happy with my setup right now, but I want the option to be there, especially since we can change our appearance, and I think most people would use it for what it's meant to be used for.

Although I do agree about how people can wipe their slates clean, it also would be cool that a "priorusername" be implemented so that a character IS NOT entirely clean of their bad rep.. meaning when you go look into their profile it shows what their username was before.. maybe that'd work?

I vote yes, because I believe majority of players out there are legit, and they'd like to change name to compliment their new looks via phantasia, or thought of a better name, or just simply sick of their old name.

There will be people abusing this feature, but not giving it to the players for this reason is like saying there are suspects (criminals) who gets a technicality and is set free, so now EVERYONE is guilty until proven innocent.

I'm glad to announce that as per today Square Enix officialy implemented the additional service for the "Character Name" change. Finally, our demands became reality. Thanks to everyone for the support.
