    Done with FFXIV until RDM comes along...

    I was gravely disappointed in the QA & of the latest live letter, where the devs stated the RDM (buff / debuff) class / job would be coming until way down the road, if at all. This is very depressing since an RDM class is sorely needed in 14 with spell speed being useless, and no real regen spells. Plus there isn't a class with the support capabilities of an RDM that's interesting.

    Anyway, sad to say it, after leveling nearly every class to 50 & nearly 100ilvl across 3 chars ( to have that 3-5ish extra attribute points)... Im done until I get my RDM .

    Square please bring out the RDM soon and BlueMage someday .

    I know the feeling. I'd LOVE to play as a RDM. The support from buff/debuff would be great rather than random DoTs with added effects. However, that's why my secondary job that I play is SCH. It's nowhere near what RDM is but it puts me to mind of. It heals well, casts buffs (Galvanize/Whispering Dawn/Skill&Spell speed buffs/Silence), while also being able to debuff (virus/disease/slow...) plus all the available DoTs (Bio2/Miasma/Bio/Aero/Miasma2/ShadowFlare).

    Like I said, NOWHERE near a RDM but it fills the gap, for me to an extent, until it's released one day.

    How soon do you want this? I believe the *earliest* they can bring it, is expansion. They could introduce a healer, tank, and 2 new DPS. Otherwise, since it took them this long to make Ninja it's unlikely RDM, which is arguably the hardest class to produce correctly, would be coming out prior to expansion.

    Pfft, RDM would be easy. A FFXIV RDM should be a melee BRD in terms of the role it fills (support centric DPS). Mixes melee & spells for maximum damage. Add in a little healing and support buffs for flavor and it would be fine (aero+stoneskin+cure+protect would be good from the WHM).

    Whilst there's a gap that'd be nice to have RDM fill, saying there's no "real regen" spell is kinda oblivious.
    You also have to take into account balancing. (Which FFXIV loves) If they keep releasing DPS/support classes without any new tank classes for example shit is going to crumble fast. Even longer DF times perhaps. :^(
    Anyway, if your attitude is "qq i'm not going to play till a whole new class is released just because i want it", that seems a rather lame way to play a game on your part. You're going to be the one missing out whilst being blind to any other content released. You get me?

    Spellspeed is useless? BLM would like to have a word with you. They've never come out and said that RDM isn't coming out. They said that they have no intentions of adding 4th class type in their current plans. That being said if RDM is added to the game which I would suspect it will, chances are it will be NOTHING like the RDM from FFXI. RDM has always traditionally been a mix of caster/healing/melee in previous titles. I could see them adding RDM as a melee spellcaster. Getting access to enspells as well as maybe a unique buff and a cure ability on a cooldown or something. Hybrid class are very impossible to balance as you really can't have them more powerful than a "pure" class without the game not being balanced. How is regen not a real regen spell?

    I agree that it comes down to this:

    Weekdays (for those that work, or go to school)

    Login, say evening to FC. Gardening/retainers/Beast Tribes even if capped (to get venture and some gil), expert roulette (to get Gil, some crafting drops lol, and a mysterious map.) you get that alex, perhaps 2 if you got 800 myth. Syrcus Tower once.

    eventually you cap soldiery, your challenge log (those that interests you) are completed.
    Say gnight to FC, logout.

    Weekend:

    Same as above, plus Ex primal (1-2 run max), Coil (1-2 run max), HUNTs bec Hunts.

    So yup - new dungeon and trials is the same stuff so no.

    new classes-job, new MAPs! <-- waiting for it with all my patience.. growing thinner and thinner..

    Lucky for me, this Video made me able to wait again, and getting into ATMA and 3-4 hour FATES for animus.. ready T_T

    We got a Stealth + a backstab while in stealth that seems to stun since the mob doesn't turn quickly. (guess it comes from Rogue) including poison and throw Kunai AoE

    Hand Signs: 1- Throw Shuriken 2- Lightning 3- Ice 4- Fire 5- Aoe like Dragoon (wonder what does it actually do) 6- Self boost? 7- Water cyclone

    And let's not forget the "FINISH HIM!"

    Wish your RDM comes into XIV sooner than later, but as other mentionned: expansion might be where the surprise lies.

    Sounds the like the OP wants RDM to fill a debuffer role, but really what does that do? Fight would be balanced around bringing those debuff's, and since fights are balanced around "not" having them now, it comes out a wash. Really a negative since you are forcing groups to bring a job solely to rebalance the fight.

    It's a matter of perspective. To me the gap is "melee DPS that uses a sword". Ignore the debuffer stuff and you could have it as a melee DPS with utility via interrupts, maybe doing something along the lines of MNK and DRG by reducing the mob's resistance to one type of damage (I'd vote magic damage). Design the combat model around a melee and magic mix, and you'd have a real easy time inserting RDM.

    This said, I don't think we'll see it until possibly 4.0. God helps us if the devs do something stupid like make RDM the new tank or new healer job they're going to introduce to keep NIN company.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    It's clear they have support jobs because brd exist, and rdm is suppose to be a solo supporter not a party supporter, their spells are meant to function for them self, but be useful to others(ie not a main heal, suppose to be a spell sword dps). RDM would be very easy to put into the game this second just combining different existing job skill from various classes/jobs and making them used with a sword. They also said all the new jobs are coming out in 3.0 which is ~1.5 patches away so why would not wait till then. Yoshi already stated in an interview rdm is one of the jobs he wants to add to the game earlier then later.
    Sch has miasma and virus, drg has slow, and it's whole debuff rotation, monk has a debuff rotation.... if you look at the dat mines it looks like ninja has a debuff rotation aswell... oh look every dps(except blm), sch, and tanks have a debuff rotation, or strong debuff skill(pld/sch).
