You never noticed the picture on the scroll wasn't your weapon after melding it 75 times? That's quite amazing.
It might just have to do with the limited powers of GMs.
I believe that they are not omnipotent and having only restricted abilities in the game. Nothing comparable of a developer's rights and access level.
What best GMs are empowered to do (to prevent power abuse) is to reverse a single action done by a player. They have this one-time item restore thing, which is able to restore an item you accidentally lost it/throw it away from your inventory.
I believe how it was done, is to simply track back the discard action and return it to your inventory. They have mentioned that it must be in your inventory for them to restore - which is the reason why they are unable to grant players item that are lost in the loot pool (for whatever reason, DC or accidentally all passed the item etc).
As such I don't think they have the access level to grant you 75 alexendrite. You could only blame it on yourself to make this mistake 75 times over quite a significant amount of time.
