The ratio could be adjusted, say a 10x usage for 1 potion. And I think it would definitely affect the market boards, in favor of a Alchemist way to make potions. They need love too.
PUP.
Sidebar: what I DO NOT WANT is a ff job wrenched so harshly into the wow mold that it doesn't resemble the original job in any way. Like for exampe THF without steal makes no sense to exist as we have PLENTY of generic dps classes already.
GOOD NEWS there's no thief class.

If there is never going to be a THF class, give Steal to the ninja. It's happened before.
I don't see the point, really. How is adding any new class going to help end game out? It will certainly add something else to the leveling experience, but once end game hits, it will just be another meat shield and spam healer. If they fix the lackluster combat, then I'd love to see new classes. Otherwise they're just giving themselves more stuff to have to fix up in the long haul.

This is a real hard answer since this game can't really have much different types of tanks or healers with the push for trinity only jobs/classes.
Warriors had their own special mechanics, but were clearly not best mitigation tanks so complained and got given more mitigation for some of its mechanics' strength.
Will this new mechanic tank do exactly the same? If its an evasion tank it means it will get even harder when it does get hit. This will mean the crying for same thing as Warriors.
With the Healer they could do some kind of battle healer such as a dancer. Sad thing is its hard to imagine since DNC could heal well in FFXI but was a supporting role and with the current pure focus on trinity it can't happen unless everyone is equal in all forms.
A battle healer cant work because it can't have high DPS and still be a main healer. It would be imbalanced one way or another.
Now in the future when the Supporting role is added, it can bring huge possibilities.

Chemist healer would be awesome and seems to be the most widely accepted right now, given that one vague line devs dropped about the gun job not being what people will expect it to be (but really I'm just thirsty for a gunner lol). I'd love Dancer as well, but I think I'd like it more as the melee equivalent to a Bard with dances rather than songs and chakram as main-hand weapon (but in both hands, like Monk fists). Machinist could be a cool healer centred around using inventions and gadgets to produce healing effects, like a little field generator that gives a Protect or Succor effect, or something that links a targeted party member to a mob so that party member absorbs HP as a heal over time effect from the mob.
Samurai also seems like the most sensible upcoming tank, especially if we're getting into Doma. Viking wielding hammers could make a cool tanking class.

Mystic Knight should get access to Shell, which would also be cross-classable. And then give them the Pro Shell trait as well.
I was wondering why shell was missing. Protect is for physical attacks while shell is for magic attacks. Yet protect say physical and magic protection.
