It was a few months ago, but I fell into the trap of changing my Grand Company after doing the Atma farm for my Relic Weapon. For those who don't know, there are Leves on the Books that you use to upgrade your weapon to Animus that require a certain rank with your Grand Company. This means that if you change your Grand Company, not only do you have to rank up, do the hunting logs, and the dungeon quests again, but your character is locked out of switching GC's for 30 days.

Hopefully I can spare someone the agony of grinding more Fates for seals after just getting done with Atma farming.

Uhm... ive not joined maelstrom at all but you can still do any leve from any GC at any time. It only gives you a bonus if you choose from the GC list you are in. I know for certain ive done one of my leves as Adder but accepted it on Maelstrom. Dont think there is any truth to this and maybe you should try again.

thats not what he said at all. and i believe they changed the cooldown on switching to 15 days, but that still sucks you have to rank up or wait

I had this issue cuz everyone wanted me to switch to twin for Fronlines.
You will be lock out of Animus books because you will be given leves that require certain rank in you Grand Company. so ya you will have to do hunting logs/dungeons/rank up all over again.

Wondering does it keep your same rank if you switch back?

I switched GC's the other day, not realizing you need to be a lieutenant to do the leves in Mor Dhona. It didn't take me long at all to rank up though, just a couple days to max rank. Company seals are so easy to get now, I didn't do a single fate to get them either!

If you're at max rank, yes this is true. However if you switch to a new GC, you'll be at the lowest rank again, which means the npcs in charge of giving GC leves will tell you to buzz off. They will only give you their leves when you're at a sufficient rank.

This is why the GC switcher npcs specifically state they do not let you use their services if you have any uncompleted GC leves active.
