    At this time we have no plans to...

    Hi everyone, I haven't been logging on as much lately on the game or the forums but scrolling through Dev posts, I was struck by the surprising number of these type of comments: "At this time we have no plans to..." This makes me feel like the Devs are really resistant to giving players what they ask for. Occasionally we get a "Please look forward to it" but most responses are of the first type. I think this is really sad

    Many player ideas are not well thought out as to how it will affect the balance of the game as well as the return on investment for adding many of these proposed changes may not always be viable. They are running a business and while there may be some good ideas out there they have their own plans as well that they are working to implement.

    That is the perfect nice way of talking about how bad a lot of the ideas posted here are.

    Indeed. before I made my class/job suggestion thread, I actually took time to look at other classes, etc. and other MMORPG experience before I decided to make the class suggestions I did. Actually implementing them though is a task in itself:

    The Magic tank (aka Geomancer) that I suggested is explicitly used in Perfect World International under the title "Psychic." It uses self-shield buffs that reflect back damage at the attacker while reducing incoming damage or slowing attackers if you are hit, etc. Although it doesn't use heavy armor in PWI, it may be difficult for FFXIV Devs to implement a cloth-based tank that has no summons.

    A.) You posted your suggestion thread in the wrong forum. That forum is for website feedback and suggestions, not game feedback and suggestions.

    B.) FFXI did it. It's called Rune Fencer. I dunno if they've fixed it since SoA release, but it was kinda crummy. I even leveled it to 99 and it still seemed kinda bad to me.

    Right, cause developer ideas like the Hunt were so well thought out and didnt affect game balance one bit......

    At the rate SE is going, a lot of player ideas are better thought out and make far more sense imho.

    To be fair, many SE ideas aren't well thought out as to how it will affect the balance of the game, either. Examples: Hunts, Frontlines, Player Housing, Chocobo Raising, and that's just in this last patch.

    Truth be told, many player ideas actually ARE better thought-out than what SE has been handing us lately.

    Half of those are also well-thought out systems that exist in other games which SE ignored and instead did their own "version" of them - even ignoring THEIR OWN PREVIOUS GAMES.

    Like... XI's housing that was great. XI's ZNM system that was great.

    Frontlines isn't so bad because they actually did just copy Rift, but the implementation of the queue was horrendous. In fact, the implementation of the queue across the board is horrendous - more lessons they could learn from other games' growing pains.

    Soooo, try again. Player's didn't ask for NMs that could be zerged in 5 seconds by a server horde and reward with end-game items to a select few tanks that can top the enmity meters like it's raining skittles. That's just what SE's interpretation, ignoring all of the things we told them we liked and that worked.
