Gear progression and playing multiple jobs

Final Fantasy XI (i know i'm not allowed to mention that name), Final Fantasy XIV (1.0/-1.23) and also A Realm Reborn have the nice feature of lvling multiple classes/jobs on one character.

in ffxi i geared most jobs endgame-ready and fine tuned them bit by bit over a long time. The gear also lasted a very long time, which made RNG drops, or farming, grinding worth it in the end.

FFXIV 1.0 did'nt last very long so it's hard to tell what the vision behind the gear progression was, but it felt more worth it, also crafting was a nice option and not by design "left behind".

FFXIV ARR i started to gear all jobs, then they all had their relic, etc. etc....
Now the problem begins (at least for me).
the currency caps: i know that it's there to make "content" (sadly mostly mindless dungeongrinding)last longer- making things harder to achieve is the better option then caping boring content but that is another story -.

Currency update 1: first cap removed, myth currency + cap got intruduced.
Finally i was able to gear all my jobs with the lvl 70 gear. Sadly gearing them with this kinda gear was pointless since the other update wasnt far away.

    - The grinding and RNG is way to crazy, on top you have lockouts on content like coil (or gear lockout on ST), which is utterly stupid for a P2P game to wait 1 week to play it again.

    - The game in its current state doesn't have a proper balance between timesink and new content/progression. The gear progression is way to fast.

Why not give us stronger and stronger dungeons and NO gear progression (for a while) Instead maybe gear drops in chests of these dungeons that are harder to achieve but dont have a weekly lookout. This way ppl can gear jobs if they put efford in it and also feel an acomplishment. Grinding tokens isn't an accomplishment and the weekly lockouts are too long compared to the ilvl progression of the game.

currency update 2: myth cap removed, new currency introduced. The same thing again. Now slowly my jobs start to be geared very differently, i have to not just mainly focus on 1-2 jobs, i have to basicly decide which job to maintain, which i hate. The choices to change jobs, play multiple roles was always a nice thing for me. OFc i can farm T1-T5 if i want, but why? RNG will not give me the gear fast enough and by the time i will have the gear i want we will have ilvl 125.

due to hate mechanics etc. you NEED to be on par or not much lower then others for hate not to get out of hand. So it IS very important to keep up with the i-lvl madness.

Ofc you can grind like hell, do hunt-grinding, atma grinding (which i did), and spam dungeons over and over again. But WHY?
Things get outdated the minute you get them. I don't mind RNG, i don't mind grinding, but i want the things, and achievements to LAST!!!!!

My question is, and i hope it get's answered. Is this going to be like this from update to update? Or is this going to change in the long run?

I have been frustrated with this process too since day one of 2.0. Having caps/lockouts in games where you have to create a new character in order to play a different job/class makes sense. But being able to play all jobs but only gear up a couple does not IMO. The lockouts drive me nuts! I don't want to work on my alt. I would much rather focus all of my attention on my main character.

And the vertical progression ends up making the game limited because who wants to do content for outdated and underleveled gear? Unless you're leveling. But even that is so quick and easy that anything you obtain while leveling can be tossed in a few days.

I just started in March and I haven't had a problem gearing alts. You just have to invest the time to do it. If you want to gear multiple jobs, it's only fair that you should have to invest in having those jobs geared. Having multiple classes geared is an advantage. Do you want it handed to you for free? Personally, I don't mind working for it.

My main (paladin) is i107, my scholar/whm are i96, and my drg is i90. More than enough for most content.

I mean, the alternative is to put a stop to vertical progression, which makes the game get stale really fast.

Should be a lockout on that character for that job. So you could get another armor on same character but just on different job. Either way, it will still take a good 6 weeks to max one job, more if you count the weapons and accessories.

Once I get my character Hayley to 50, I will probably alternate between jobs with gearing her progression up. Heh, by the time that comes, I probably won't have to worry about lockouts I'm enjoying my time on a fresh character, and with what I am in doing in life, I feel no need to grind right away. Plus I saved a ton of money on gear so far than I did with my original character Naraku Diabolos. I actually have made more money on my new character versus what I had on my original character.

The content is released when it's old like caps or CT all fine and good if you're returning but not so much if you're grinding that much that two of your main jobs sits in 100s and every other job is locked on 90. I guess they balanced it in such a way that nobody can get too far ahead of the pack. But it's just so depressing when your other jobs are stuck there and no amount of grinding can lift them because of lockouts and caps. I personally think it's funny because when they uncapped myths I Wasn't that interested in going out and grinding to get all my jobs up to spec. I was just tired of the whole rng and book quests by then. I understand it's the whole carrot and stick routine to keep people subbing but that carrot is starting to lose it's appeal.

I can totally see this being abused with greed rolls within statics.
