Monitor resetting itself frequently

Heya

So, as stated above, my monitor will turn off and then back on every few minutes or so. It did this occasionally out of the game, but not so much anymore. Thinking my graphics card might be overheating a splurged and bought a new one. Whoops. Still happening.

My monitor is a 27 inch Samsung, just over a year old. I have downloaded the most recent drivers for it and my graphics card (Nvidia 750ti) and even tried rolling back to the old driver that worked for me last December.

I have cleaned my comp and have a ground fan blowing directly into the open case now.

I briefly thought it was the ac cord. Not sure if it is supposed to come out of the back of the monitor, because there was a shard of broken plastic there. It's gone now, but that wouldn't explain why the reset happens only during the game.

I've fiddles with various resolutions as well. Nothing seems to work.

Anyone suffer anything like this before?

Have you ever stopped to think that the Square Enix forums might not be the best place to ask for assistance with your broken monitor?

sounds like the Driver is resetting due to the Windows device time out detection and recovery system added in Vista and higher.

could be any number of reasons why it occurs, conflicting drivers, failing hardware, bad bios settings....
