If you edit your post you can go past the character limit
I've never seen the fight done that way, though I've seen the fight done officially wrong plenty of times lol.
Whoever put you down for it was being a jerk but there can be more than one legitmate way to fight a boss, so learning a new method must be interesting!
(If harassment feels serious enough feel free to report it, to the three GM's I've spoken to all have been very nice and friendly. I think they can help you in a true harassment case, besides we don't want to play with those kind of players anyways :P)
The ONE time I did Crystal Tower (Cactaur) we did the dragon in the middle. If I had to get guess, people take him up north because it means that at least one of the skeletons has a far greater distance to get back to him and if things go wrong, it might not be an automatic wipe.

I never seen it not tanked in the center.
Same. Tanking it in the center guarantees your melee will never have to stand in poison (as long as it's properly positioned). Dragging it to the north end of the arena seems less effective, but I guess I see the point about the skeletons. With the dragon in the middle, when things go south with the adds boy do they go SOUTH. >.<
I wish more people would do it like this than the hash it ends up being most of the time.My experience of CT on 2 different data centers.
Mandragora (Mana) - this method is established and always happens this way with no change
First Room: Alliance A and C each take a dragon while B takes all elemental.
Second Room: Alliance A and C each take a demon while B takes all imps.
Bone Dragon: Alliance B MT and DPS bone dragon at center - Alliance A and C focus on skeleton adds. 1 tank in A+C will take the 1st and 3rd skeleton while the other tank will take the 2nd skeleton.
This is how I was taught to do it, but most can't be bothered.

Yeah different people will resolve to different strategies unless everyone uses the same "guide" to do things which wont always be the case.
There's a lot of people that prefer to do things on their own and have an open mind.
Don't feel down about it though. If they couldn't believe you then that was their fault.
Maybe it's just a Primal data center thing then. I've been on hyperion since day 1 and did CT every week to obtain several sets of gear. The dragon was alway tanked to the north, not in the center. If someone tried to tank in the center, what happened to the op is exactly what would happen and it would be moved to the north.
Primal data center here and, yeah first time I read about bone dragon being tanked in the middle.
Sometimes people like to change things and tank it to the east or west, thought it doesn't matter since the arena is a circle.
Some people also like to tank KB to the west instead of north, though the 'norm' is still north.
