Something that helps filter out players that actually want to go through the process as a symbol of devotion to their partner rather than someone whom wants to marry off two mules to get a free mount.
I imagine both characters would need to be present for the marriage to take place, so they would need to be on different accounts. In this situation, someone who wanted the mount would still do it.

This is another attitude I have found to be wholly unique to FF players - this attitude of "I hope that this system is needlessly convoluted because I don't think other people should get to enjoy it for reason xyz" that doesn't even make any sense. Why does it affect you so much that someone else might get something or that they might want to get married for teh "lulz"? How does that affect you in any way at all? It's a video game for everyone, not just your personal crusade against people you feel are undeserving of whatever you have deemed them unworthy to participate in.
