Has anyone found any real information on this recently? So far this post is all I came up with through search.

Looking for a rep clarification is why I made the thread. As far as I know, the original quote in my OP is the most recent official info that we have. Still hoping for some more details soon regarding all this, especially "apply via the web" :/

They've said it won't be a hassle. You do the quest, you can have a ceremony if you want, not sure why people think the Sanctum isn't instanced, because it clearly will be since it doesn't actually exist in game yet(all you can do is see the outside of the building and walk around in the entrance garden), so there's no "booking a venue".

From what's been said a whole bunch of things are optional, even the costumes. You don't have to buy the special two seater mount, but considering the other one is a heck of a lot harder to obtain, I don't see why you'd pass up the chance, same with the costumes.

The system is symbolic though, you're not actually getting married, you don't suddenly have rights to a person's belongings or account. Don't be silly. It's meant to be hassle free.

I expect the website application thing is just a "bad idea" being tossed around and ultimately discarded, given that it will 100% guaranteed break on Day One for a week or so if they do it that way.

They've stated and reiterated that this system is for EVERYONE, they aren't going to make you pay real money to get married, don't chicken little this.

I'd be surprised if they made you pay ANY money at all to get married, they'll definitely charge for the outfits and the mount, but bare bones "marriage"? I think that's likely to be cost free, although probably not near as fun as getting it all.

I do hope you're right Anatha, and really, all that's being asked here is for clarification. No one is chicken-littleing anything. However, when they state "We are planning to have players apply via the web", well, that sounds like a (potentially big and ridiculously unnecessary) hoop. We don't want that. So we are our giving feedback, and requesting more information. My understanding is that SE appreciates feedback. So I hope this advance feedback helps.

I wouldnt mind doing a web app as long as its not a bug ridden mess with the website going down every 2 minutes from overloading.

The outfits.... I expect this is where they're going to screw the moogle big time. Expect them to be 3 Star or worse items, mats even rarer than we have already for some things and probably 1 more ridiculous "requirement" tossed in just because its SE and nothing can be fun or easy when it comes to SE. I expect to see the outfits on the MB for 10+ million easy at this point, which, honestly, is bullshit.

Rift lets you buy very pretty and nice wedding outfits for cheap right off a vendor. God knows SE never takes the easy/fun route though to anything.

So I'm hoping for the best, but past experience with SE has me expecting the worst....

Im not planning on getting married. It doesnt fit my character. Shes still too young!
But I would love instanced ceremonies where only friends could be invited. Id party so hard at all my friends ceremonies!!

I'm not sure why this can't be fully automated, just like any other quest that takes you to a private instance. They could just make the ceremony room a "dungeon-type" instance.

The need to apply via web, and having to reserve the date sound very tedious and needlessly overcomplicated :/ I have a feeling that they're just trying to make us take this marriage system too seriously, which sort of contradicts their efforts to draw away from the controversy that surrounded it (based on religious beliefs).

SE has a sick desire to make everything "elaborate" (housing anyone?) Make it a quest, give both players an item that signifies their bond at the quest's end and in case of a divorce destroy both players' items. During the marriage, give the home owner (if any) options to enable editing/removing the home and furniture and leave it to the players to moderate themselves. GMs shouldn't be responsible for fixing marital drama anyway. Have some faith in your players, SE.

XI's system required booking because they used a live GM to perform the service. I think it was too complicated a process, although having the live GM was something rather special. I sort of hope there is some sort of barrier that keeps just anyone from marrying for laughs or for the in game goodies. Something that helps filter out players that actually want to go through the process as a symbol of devotion to their partner rather than someone whom wants to marry off two mules to get a free mount.

Sorry but if I or anyone else wants to marry someone in a game for a laugh, rewards or for whatever reason. Then that's down to us and has no impact on anyone else.

After all it is our gaming experience, which we're paying money to enjoy our way & it doesn't effect anyone elses in game marriage.
