What is your (1) favorite Final Fantasy character?

I've always really liked her. Yes, going to get your materia back was just....awful. But I just liked how peppy she was. I always seem drawn to those kinds of characters.

I also appreciate Fran though! I thought she was the coolest character in FFXII. Next to Balthier, of course.

Aeris Gainsborough will always be my favourite FF character. Although I hated how she was reduced to a ditzy airhead who was afraid of the sky in Crisis Core, -_- I just feel that I relate to her personality more than any other FF character (and yes I cried the first time I reached 'that scene' at the end of disc 1 in FFVII back in 1997), and that she didn't need to be overly sexualized or needed to lean on Cloud to get by (if anything, Cloud was the one who had to lean on her more often than not!). Hehe, I've even cosplayed as her. :3

And yes I still insist on calling her 'Aeris' instead of the now retconned 'Aerith', but I'm weird like that.

Seifer from FFVIII

A great story behind Seifer that led to a lot of complex interpersonals in the game. Fujin and Raijin's relationship with Seifer fed into his ego and his superiority complex, but despite his best efforts he was never able to become the leader that he wanted to be because of his self-sabotaging attitude. He gets extremely complex almost immediately in the game (Timber TV station) as he throws himself into the service of Edea (whether under spell or not). As he seems to remember who he is he embraces his role as her lap-dog, and re-envisions himself as her "Knight," an elite guard for what he sees is the future ruler of the world.

After finally having admit to himself that he is incapable of leading, he still has a begrudging relationship of some form of respect between himself and Squall, which plays out really nicely in the various encounters in the game (won't spoil it if you haven't finished).

I personally wish he would have died in the Lunatic Pandora battle because him staying alive and getting to just chill with Raijin and Fujin after trying to basically destroy the world is kind of wonky - but you can't have it all : D

First Final Fantasy I really sat down with growing up. Was not used to JRPGs when FF7 rolled out, so I skipped over that as the more blocky cartoony design didnt appeal to me unlike FF8s more grownup style did. Which made me go and play all other FF games I could get my hands on
