This is the crux of the issue. Some consider it common courtesy to pass to lower levels if you're a high level in roulette, and there certainly are lower levels who expect that as well. Personally I don't take lower level loot if I'm on a high level job in roulette, but it's certainly not against the rules to. As was stated above, ultimately if they want the gear then they need to come on the job that can need on it. Do the work to earn the gear, etc.

Swearing at you and then vote dismissing you when it doesn't fit within any of the dismissal reasons, however, *is* against the rules and you should take not only this screenshot but their names and servers and include them your existing harassment report. As Eekiki says the GMs typically seem more appreciative if you can give them a lot to go on.

None of the above make any mention of taking advantage of the need button when a piece of gear drops, regardless of whether or not some consider it bad manners.

If Need is highlighted, you can need. That is the way the game is written and the way the game works. All of these other wanna be social rules don't actually exist, except in the minds of people who feel they are being cheated because they wanted something you could legitimately get. It doesn't matter if you need it to equip, sell, spirit bond, or just play with yourself with.

Personnaly, if I don't need it but want to sell it or something like that, I greed. But that is a personal choice and I am not allowed, nor required to make anyone else do that.

The thing about reporting harassment/cheating in a roulette group (and I'm speaking from experience here) is the GMs seem to have a hard time unless you can:

a.) give them exact times (always always have timestamps turned on in your chat logs)
b.) go on the lodestone to look up what server the people in your group were from (can be tough if someone's using a common name)
c.) paste chat log snippets in your ticket

The GMs in my experience have been very appreciative when I give them a lot more information than I think they need. I still can't tell you whether anything ever came of either of the two non-RMT GM reports I've filed, but there it is.

Thanks for the advice, I went and found them on lodestone. The one had a common name but I pieced it together from the second one as they are from the same server and most likely were together and the one was a bard and other whm as they are on the lodestone.

On a side I know how they feel. I've got all classes leveled and often times I'll see a tank ilvl100 Need on a ilvl55 tank piece just for points, when my ilvl52 pld could use it as an upgrade. But then again... I'll just have to keep trying, and if it gets bad, I guess I'll go as tank myself (I try to avoid that because I tend to get scolded for not being ilvl90+, but my myth priority is BLM >_<)...

Also, just a sidenote for those who may find themselves in a situation where they need a drop for another class or glamour and cannot roll greed but really want it.
Just tell the party beforehand that you would like these drops and ask if they would be willing to let you have them. While some may not be receptive to this, I have found that in most instances people will be okay with it. I let people have asked for drops if I don't really need it (and sometimes when I actually do) and other have done the same for me. However, if you do get those drops it might be good manners to then pass on other drops so that the people who let you have the drops you wanted are guaranteed something from the dungeon run.

Technically you shouldn't have needed on it anyways because it's DRG armor. It's pretty useless to you; SE just lets you Need on it anyways.

Actually, what they did was against TOS. They cursed you out for no reason (treating other members disrespectfully) and they abused the vote kick feature.

He passed the Cavalry boots. He was dismissed for rolling Need on the aetherial steel greaves.
