    Monk Stances Improvement (Cosmetically)

Don't know whether this'd be the right area, but I've kind of had a idea for awhile now.

I've been thinking of how to make the stances of monks a little more cool and involved, and even more noticeable, while the transition animations are great and it's mainly a cosmetic, but wouldn't it be cool to have the battle stances while in the FoF stance for example be different, other than just have the effect?

I feel like it'd reflect the idea of stances more then just changes the stat effect, like having FoE have a more defensive idle stance like you would have in Martial Arts, or FoW reflect a more flexible idle pose.

The only thing I can think of it being hard to implement is having the animator having to animate each move to the new battle poses... I think it'd be worth it though. Maybe I'm being bias in this thought.

checked to see whether this was posted before and it wasn't, so I might be the only one thinking this, anyone else ever wanted something like this for monks/pug?

Monks already have some of the coolest animations why do you need more? Be happy with what you got other classes are not as lucky

With how fast you should be going in and out of them i really don't see the point? Hardly a time i see my char just standing there.

I think he was actually talking about having different idle poses based on which fist skill you had active. It might be neat, but it would essentially result in changing your character's idle stance to whatever they would implement for Fists of Fire.

Initially I thought maybe the different stances (opo-opo, raptor, couerl) would be visually different, and that might be cool, but you'd really almost never notice if they were, except for I suppose whatever stance you end up between pulls.

I thought about this before too; don't see how it got past their design team. I support your idea Fire-Brand. Stances for each Fist style makes too much sense.

I miss how in 1.0 every race had their own default stance. What happened to that?

It takes a lot of time and money to do all of the animations in this game. Doing a different animation for each race would be very costly for, let's face it, a pretty minor benefit.

Also everyone would only ever really see the Fists of Fire stance anyway. Sure you might use Earth or Wind for a few levels, but by endgame every monk would be doing the same animations again anyway. Heck I'm surprised they gave us the little animation when changing stances.

    I fully agree with this.

I would like to point out that our jobs don't feel unique. It's sad that similar abilities of different jobs have the exact same animation.

It even goes one step further: all races have the exact same animations for abilities. While this is not game braking, I find it very strange this isn't the case in much older MMO's for example in FFXI, its forerunner. I mention FFXI because they copy pasted race movements from FFXI. Why didn't they chose to also give more feel to races: their own animations?

Let's not hope it's a memory thing again.

Pretty much my thoughts. I use all stances tbh, definitely during EX's, helps when healers aren't at the top of their game and say for example, a levi ex run goes a tad bit sour and you have that chance to survive, I switch to FoE for a bit and drop mantra to help heals.

It would be based on what you use most. Also agree with the form changes from oppo-raptor-couerl, didn't mention it and only would want the stances changing as you're mainly in them as a monk long enough. The skills would be spammed too quickly to notice the difference and that would be excessive.

Yeah, That's a main fault in the idea. The transitions from each stance to each skill use would be a problem, also making them all for each race, which makes me sad as to how much work that'd be, but, as a future goal I can't see it being bad to hope for improvements like this, just tiny polishes you know, I'd never demand/ask for it immediately as I know the pains of animation.:')
