That gif you posted up above does look a lot like the midlander run, but really that's the run of a person in a mini skirt and heels.....probably not the norm for most of us.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a "girly" girl, granted that's a whole debate waiting to happen as to what that actually means, but I suppose my slight issue with the run is they are supposed to be the generic character option, and evidently in SE's mind, basic females run like dainty princesses. And dainty princesses, if stories have taught me anything, need to be rescued by someone stronger and more capable.

As far as XIV is concerned, the overwhelming thought for me is "the run isn't my style", but there is definitely a larger issue with games in general in how they portray female characters as a whole.
