Movement and typing

Please excuse this if this is posted in the wrong forums.

I wanted to request a way that we can move our character while typing. I am a Keyboard/Mouse user and currently if the curser is active in the text window you cannot move your character. What happens to me a lot is while in dungeons I’ll start to type something and my group will move forward and/or engage an enemy and I either have to just hit enter on my half thought or quickly backspace and enter to clear the line and move to them. I would like to be able to chat a bit more in groups but with the fast pace of most dungeon runs I can only get out a few words before we are off to the next fight.

You can use your mouse to move by holding the right and left mouse buttons. This will move your character forward and you can change direction by moving your camera. Alternatively you can quickly press escape and move freely with your keyboard.

I've had bards get mad at the way I ask for songs mid fight. I'll simply say "ballad" or "foes", etc. They don't understand that if I take the time to ask nicely, it will result in my death or a party members death. I know this from experience lol. It certainly doesn't help that I type maybe 30 words a minute!

with consoles, you can still type, move, and fight. i main WHM aznd i throw i few words inbetween heals. its fast(for me) and its easy

You can also just hit Esc once if you're mid-typing. What you've typed so far will remain in the chat bar, but it will lose focus, so you'll be able to move and use actions, and when you're ready to type again, you can hit Enter and pick up where you left off typing.

Unless you've got Direct Chat enabled. Then, yes, you're stuck using the mouse or something.

I tried the Esc option and although it's not the text/movement I've been spoiled with in other games it’s a vast improvement over just staying quiet. I appreciate all the help =)

When you type with two fingers and have to look at the keyboard to type (and still end up with mistakes), it's far from easy!

I main WHM too, and I died many times due to trying to type mid fight, so many that I no longer type more than one word at a time. Unless of course it's a fight I'm very familiar with, then I know when I can relax long enough to say what I have to say.
