    Item Lore

    Growing up playing WRPG, i love it when the game provide lore text on certain if not all item in game, usually when you right click on it from the inventory. It'll be nice if we can have this too in FFXIV. I'd really love to know the lore behind the items especially those that we acquired from dungeons.

    I may be mis-remembering, but some of the items do already have that. Still, it would be nice to see a few more blurbs on some of the cooler and more unique gear. I wouldn't count on it though since a great deal of the best gear is 'created' en mass to be bought with tomestones. Not much unique to say about that.

    Well it's only for the Coil and tomes items though.

    Whilst this information isn't actually shown on all the equipment, some dungeon drops do have some lore behind them that you can find in various places.

    Having said that FFXIV has a significant lack of 'unique' dungeon drops, which are the kinds of items that normally get this treatment. Each dungeon just seems to drop a generic set for each equipment type with little to link those sets to where they were obtained. I will admit I do somewhat miss obtaining a special weapon or piece of equipment from a specific place or boss as this gives the item some sense of identity.

    I think this would be nice if items had more specialized attributes (ie. Inflicts x debuff on attack, or elemental damage), but with the current generic stats, its a little meh.

    If I remember right, Yoshi actually mentioned that they didn't want those sorts of gear options to be a thing in XIV, because of how the community treated it in XI and how it made certain gear pieces "must haves."

    I've heard something similar, but would still like to see it at some point. The current format for item stats is kind of boring and makes stuff like item lore meaningless fluff. (almost)

    And I'd like to see it stay that way. While adding lore to gear would be nice (and has been considered, they've mentioned), giving gear more buffs just to make them more interesting or so that they can give an interesting backstory to a particular piece of gear is superfluous at best, and automatically makes that singular piece of gear more necessary for a particular job, lessening the uniqueness of that item. The way gear currently works now is just fine, and while I wouldn't mind seeing lore added to gear items, changing the way gear stats work is a bad idea, in my opinion.

    Ooh, I like this, kinda like how the fishing log gives us info about the fish, like maybe an Item log that collects info on items and equipment as you get them would be cool.

    I know that every fish in the game already does this, as do all the key items. Still, it would be nice to see on other items as well, especially armor and weapons that are classified as "unique". Besides a fancy name, why are the unique?
