With how bad people claim this community to be (I do it too) I wanted to share a story that just goes to show there are still good people out there (although it starts off with a bad one).
If you're on Hyperion and are an FC leader, you might know of a certain individual of late who's been applying to FCs, clearing out as much of their company chest as they have access to then running. I am a little ashamed to say it happened to me too, normally I check with people if they know someone who's applying, but the other morning I was preoccupied trying to make space in our LS since it was 128/128 and had only just woke up. So with a quick check of the player's levels, I assumed they were new and let them in. Within only a few minutes he was gone, I assumed he must have wanted a bigger FC or something since only a couple people were online at the time, and forgot about it. It wasnt until later I realised he'd robbed the first two pages of our company chest and that, unfortunately, while those pages were only supposed to have cheap stuff in it, members had been putting quite a lot in there, including 300k worth of krakka roots.
You might say 'well its your fault for letting new members access the chest' and maybe that's right, people in mor dhona certainly thought so when an officer shouted about it to warn people later on. But I don't want to have to treat everyone with suspicion, our FC is designed to help new players. But this isn't really the point. We lost a lot from our chest, but I wasn't all that bothered. I could replenish most of the gear and foods myself if I have to, the krakka roots would just take time to grow. And it was me who let the person in the FC. I also should have been keeping better tabs on what was going on with the chest in the last few weeks anyway.
What makes this a happy story though is the reaction of the people in my LS. The LS was for my FC, and the people who were already in FCs but wanted to hang out with us. It's primarily made up of my own and a neighboring FC in the goblet, and a bunch of other people. They knew what happened, and aside from a few suggestions of 'maybe keep the new members on a rank that cant access chest,' they were all sympathetic. Many of them were approaching me to share gil for our chest. Our neighbor gave us some krakka roots from their garden. People were quickly depositing gil and items in the (locked) pages to replenish what we lost without being asked to. Like I said, it was my own fault and I was prepared to replenish it myself. Even 2 days after, I'd log on and people would send me a tell insisting to help out when I told them they didnt have to.
So while one person thought they would make a quick profit by robbing FC chests, there were plenty more out there with no obligations who were more than willing to help out. The fact we had so much in the chest to begin with shows people were more interested in giving than taking as well.
There are good people in the community, you just have to find them![]()
