I honestly think patch 1.18 didn't break soloing, but fixed it, as sp/exp was too high, and along with that, also fixed partying, by making it the better option. If partying isn't the better option no one will do it.
I'm sure sp and exp will continue to be monitored and some changes will be made, but I have a feeling sp/exp is closer to where it should be NOW than before 1.18.
I've been soloing most of the time, and I feel exp is fine as is. I have no reason to rush to max level.

Soloing, I don't think you will be able to find the kind of exp you're looking for, but if I figure out anything I'll post it.
originally it was advertised as a game where you can -choose- to solo or party. Thats why crafting and gathering were main jobs and not support jobs originally and why all the missions can be done as a rank 1 job (by sneaking around, parley, etc). Then the following patches made partying pretty well inefficient. The coblyn system was pure solo. partying was essentially broken then. And the patch after that made leve linking so good for SP that normal parties pre 40 didn't really compare unless you had rly skilled ppl.

i think this patch was designed to emphasize party play but no one is partying.... which is disappointing.
