Achievement Points: Give them a purpose

Only players will 5000+ score are 1.0 players. Theres only like 5 people that are 7000-8000 score.

There are people with 5k+ score that haven't played 1.0 and it's currently possible to have 6k+ if you add the total points up. also where'd you get those 5 people with 7k+ score from?

I updated my achievement spreadsheet. To be exact, these are the current totals

Max ARR Achievements - #741
Max ARR Achievement Points – 6,200

Legacy Achievements - #261
Legacy Achievement Points – 1,745

Total Achievements - #1002
Total Achievement Points – 7,945

(If you look up the Achievement Database on the Lodestone, it says the total achievements is 996, but this is wrong cause it doesn’t count the seasonal achievements and it has 3 achievements for the quest where you leave your home city – you can only ever get 1 of these. So 996 + 8 Seasonal – 2 Unobtainable = 1002)

For me personally, I completed 214/261 Legacy achievements so my maximum possible that I can get is 955 achievements for 7,580 points

Currently there are no plans to make achievement points have a use for something like tokens or items. The system is intended to be an element that you can enjoy and share with friends, and one which shows how much you've played FFXIV and what feats you have overcome.

I would enjoy it more if I could rub it in my friends' faces.

Also, while I'm here...please get Slepnir implemented as a mount! I'd give 100 mantles for it!

Can we at least have achievement points total show up when we examine a player? Or would that be a memory issue?

I'd happy exchange 2000 of my achievement points for some commendations. They're so hard to raise as a DPS.

Im at over 800 comms, and 90% of those were earned as BRD and MNK. So newp, not hard. All depends on your attitude and ability in df

Honestly I'm pretty happy with achievements as they are now. We already get rewards from individual achievements.

I agree with the fact that they're kinda pointless as they are now. I mean, why do we even have achievement points? We can't see how many others have, and even if we could, it's not a clear indicator of anything - there's no progress bar / max value visible and some achievements give more while some give less. Make it a number indicating the amount of completed/total achievements, that'd be much more straightforward for comparisons, if there are no plans to use the points for anything anyway.

Not true. I got "Gone from Gridania" in 1.0 and then changed my starting city to Limsa in ARR and got the "Leaving Limsa".

As someone who plays GW2 I'm actually in favour of this. While GW2 gave MF, EXP ((har har har)) +% bonuses ((which was terribly easy to come by and honestly pathetically low)), they also gave a choice of relatively exclusive weapon skins if people had more points.

If the points were to provide nothing more than vanity I'd say sure. Yes, there will be idiots who burn themselves out trying to get all the achievement points because uh... e-peen increment and vanity rewards are worth burning out for... I guess? Yes, there are rewards for unlocking achievements, but saying that you don't want any rewards is like saying that you don't want free gil.
