    Keybinding...

So I've been clicking my skills and that's all fine, but I feel I could be doing better if I use the keyboard to active the skills, so my question is... How have you set up your keybinds and could you give me any tips... I have a basic mouse and keyboard, but because I'm getting a proper pc later this year I was going to upgrade them. I was hoping to upgrade the mouse first.

All my most important abilities go on vanilla/ctrl/alt+1234. Situationals go on 567890-=, rarer situationals are ctrl/alt+890-=, extremely rare and non-time sensitive are stuck on ctrl/alt+567. It's kind of a crap shoot whether I press the hotkey for rares/extremely rares, and might click them depending on the other movements of my hand at the time. As an aside, I've also disabled all key combos involving wasd to prevent failures of movement or ability use when dodging and trying to do things at the same time.

Well keep in mind that most any setup will take practice to get used to, just have to try things out and see what works best for you ^_^.

That said, I started using QERFC as my hotkeys, along with their shift and ctrl modified versions. There's also the middle and two side mouse buttons, as well as their shift/ctrl modifiers as well. It's not enough keys to completely cover three full hotbars, but it's enough for the majority of abilities, just leaving cooldowns to be clicked generally.

You should Keybind space and its shift modifier if you are not using them, for they are very easy to reach and useful keybindings.

If you go to the system menu, there’s an option for Keybindings in there. Look for the “Hotbar” section where it mentions the 12 key for each available Hotbar. By default the keys from the 1st hotbar range from the keys 1 to =.

You also have 2 Hotbars enabled by default. For me personally, i’ve enabled the 3rd Hotbar (in the HUD/UI Settings) and spread my skills over these 3 bars.

When it comes to the Keybinding itself, i try to keep the skills i use the most near my left hand, namely the 1 to 6 numeric keys. To get as many of the skills close to my left hand, i would use the SHIFT, CTRL and ALT keys and bind them to the 1 to 6 numeric keys. This gives me access to 24 skills.

This is what my hotbar set up looks like on my White Mage:

If you look at the numbers of each bar, the left side uses the 1 to 6 numeric keys. The C in front of the numbers are the CTRL+[number] keys, the A’s are the ALT+[number] keys and the white dot (located on the 2nd hotbar to the right) are the SHIFT+[number] keys.

I also try to keep certain skills grouped together, like the Elemental/Attack spells at the SHIFT 1 to 6 keys, but also my healing skills (1 to 3 and ALT 1 to 3). Most of the time, i’m opening with with a Divine Seal (CTRL+1), followed by a Regen (ALT+1) and Cure 1 (regular “1”-key).

Hopefully this will give you some idea’s for using keybinds in combination with your Hotbars.

Logitech G600, i use 1 thru = with shift and alt modifiers and QEF with shift and alt modifiers.

You could get the razer naga, but i have had a ton of problems with razer gear so i tend to shy away from it.

Go on newegg and keep an eye out for the mouse you want and pick it up when it goes on sale.

    My keybinds are the following: 1-5 Q E R T, ctrl 1-5 Q E R T, shift 1-5 Q E R T
Stuff that aren't used a lot are bound to 6-9, for example Defiance and signs.

The regular attacks are bound to 1-5 Q E R and the cooldowns and less used actions are bound to the CTRL and SHIFT ones.

Current keybinds and HUD layout (Large Image, right click and view image for full version):

Props for the G600, love mine. Got all my hotbars on it and only use keyboard for moving and tab targeting.

    Lol... RAZR....
Personally I would go for a Logitech or Corsair brand. Those both stand the test of time better than RAZR.
As for key binds just have them set to whatever you feel more comfortable with. Be sure to utilize the CTRL ALT and shift modifiers as well
