That going to happen the severs are in Japan even in FFXI i had this issue with me and my gf playing that noting to worry about.

This is FFXI/FFXIV it's not wow or fast step game that you need low ping like wow you need low ping for PVP and such but not really needed for FFXI/FFXIV type battle system.

i still want them to fix the lag issue tho lol

In short: I think this issue makes the whole game seem really empty because most of the time you can't see people around you even if their data is there.

They tried to get around this by putting in an exceptionally short draw-distance to the other player characters around you.

You can test this anywhere in the field with your friend by moving apart slowly.

Most apparent in city LL where you can't see people running on the other levels of the bridges. (<--That would look awesome!)

In a game with a low population to begin with this is really troublesome.

"Same thing with me and my wife
It's funny to watch sometimes, we're on different spots on each screen, when we run to certain place she's often far ahead of me on her screen while I'm far ahead of her on my screen lol"

UK here and i get the same problem, I also don't think it will ever be fixed.

This little Australian isn't about to chime in with his own stats till he gets home from work and runs some tests, but he can show you a tool he uses working for an ISP.

    Check out www.speedtest.net

Use the map and run some tests to see how your fast your speeds and pings are to locations around the world. Compare them with others to indulge your curiosity. (And complain to your ISP if you are not getting your minimum guaranteed speeds when testing with the local and recommended server.)

As a side note, a test from my ISP office at work in Australia gave me a ping of 159ms when aiming for Nagoya. Pinging Tokyo gave me a latency test error. (!?!) That being said, I share this service with a lot of other call centre operators, so performance varies by various factors and I can't test in isolation. I'm going to run these tests again when I get home.

I normally don't have issues with delay or anything, but I seem to get lucky with online games as far as this goes.

I am in the UK and I don't seem to have these issues. I believe there is a 'lag' between other people around you by design. I say this because player positioning from the perspective of another players is very low priority. Does it matter that you see your friend running 3s behind you when actually he is next to you? Even in FFXI when you were going to SATAWS onto someone you knew to wait a sec or two to make sure they were in the right place and it wasn't lag syncing up (for better or worse)

It can be cumbersome at times but it's not a big issue in my humble opinion of course. It becomes a problem though, when people are mentioning lag between themselves and the servers. Like I said I haven't noticed this, but maybe I just haven't been in a position where it was necessary. I guess I sometimes notice mobs die before I see it on-screen (Cannot use Light-shot on a KO'd target) but I have always assumed that the raw data going back and fourth to the server was accurate and just the display was lagging behind.

Either way if SE can improve latency problems if people are having them, it's worth doing right?

You forgot that the main issue is not seeing everyone else moving 3 seconds later, but getting hit when you could've avoided if it weren't for the lag.

Seems like most people here are missing the point of this thread...

Oh I wouldn't say the delay between my wife and me on each others screen is that much of a problem, i find it funny to watch tho however, it's a small indication that it's not doing that good either (3-4sec is kinda too much if you ask me)...and what you said, lag between us and server.

Right now it's ok, but if PS3 release brings a lot more people and we have bigger population (lets hope so lol)....and if SE doesn't do something by then it will only get worse. Why not try and do what they can before that happens
