Yep. Coming back for a third time. Especially after they said no to it multiple times. Apparently(from what I've heard) enough people complained and it returns again. I'm not mad though. I can get the rest of the weapons.

I fail to see the problem..at least they're giving practically everyone a chance to do it this time.

I am all for game events like this, gives a decent distraction every once and a while. However this is the third time they used the same content, and not giving us something new. it would be better if the rewards were a little different, or built upon the last event.

something along the lines of:
A little Metal Slime minion or a /PuffPuff emote for the DQ quest. Sazh's Chocobo chick or the Black outfit from FFXiii (IE the actual game they are promoting).

Because they appear to not understand the difference between "Limited Event" and "Special Event" (like certain people on the Internet don't know the difference between "Collectors Edition" and "Limited Edition"). To me the Lightning Strikes Event could be an annual thing, to fill in the gap between Holiday Events. Plus it's something that's easy(ish) to tweak, so it can be altered over time.

Because people like to feel like they own something that others don't (and would not be able to get it, ever), when there are thousand of players already with those items and it doesn't make any difference if new players have a chance to get them too.

It kind of defeats the purpose of a special event when you keep bringing it back.

And from a lore perspective... it kinda doesn't make sense for Lightning to 'return'. Shantotto and DQX are more than welcome to return though, since Shantotto can traverse dimensions (A Shantotto Ascension) and DQX used mostly FFXIV races.

As someone who was not playing during the original event I am looking forward to this. I am not really one for these 'once in a life time, never again' item events, so I think it would be cool if this becomes an annual thing or something. Are we sure it is the exact same event that happened last time anyway?

And Gaius get killed 500 times a day, that doesn't make any more sense but it's still in the game.

Too bad, considering the time, I don't think they'd add Noel's weapons for Ninja.

I'm just going by what Yoshi-P said about cameo characters. If a Final Fantasy character is dead or their story is complete, they can not appear in FFXIV.

Lightning Returns ending spoilers

Lightning Returns ends with Lightning living in a world void of magic, thus meaning she herself is incapable of traversing dimensions to return to worlds she has visited once before... though strangely enough, the FFXIV cameo in Lightning Returns was incredibly weird and didn't match with how FFXIV handled Lightning's cameo. She was given the Miqo'te clothing by the reporter in FFXIV. In Lightning Returns, she gets it from Chocobo ladies.
