Its not a terrible analogy. Just like in my PT test example earlier. When I was running a PT test and had to run a 2 mile in a certain time, I would look at my watch and see where I was at when I reached the halfway mark. If I was running a bit slower than needed that let me know I needed to pick it up.

A Parser lets a static group get more information in the same way. If they aren't beating a DPS check, they can then look to see who is under performing. If its a gear issue, thats easy to see. But what if everyone is the same item level? Do you take every individual to an instance and time them on boss fights? Well guess what? You're parsing by doing that.

All a parser is in reality is a stopwatch and a calculator. Sometimes its a spreadsheet too.

I guess that's all the pro-parser community has to do. Instead of saying, "The parser shows you're lacking DPS". Just say, "my calculator shows your lacking DPS." I'd love to see the press that SE would get if they start actioning people for saying they are using calculators.

Seriously, you guys should report these threads for being in violation of the TOS if parsing is really bannable and you honestly believe it to be a cheat and/or against the TOS:

(anyone have the ones for SMN and BRD handy? I don't know if they exist)

I'm calling the bluff on the anti-parsing crowd. Lets see if they report those threads.
