if you use a more expedient method that is against the Terms of Service then yes, it's technically cheating.
Would you like to have every player basically holding a gun to your head and if you don't preform perfectly they may the the one group that goes out of their way to make you life a living hell in game?
The Terms of Service, which we all signed when we started playing the game firmly state the use of 3rd Party Tools is against the rules and is a bannable offense. Once they change this for add ons, the Terms will change and I will most likely have to re-consider things and see how it goes at that time. But for now it's not permitted regardless of your stance or mine.

If the group finds a person a problem in the group on said encounter, they have the right to discuss the issue and if they find removing such person, its their right, you cant say they arent allowed to have a say in the matter, what you are asking for is making them do things against their will and forced, which is bad.
Also who goes out of their way to make someones life a living hell from a boss fight ? This is just your issues that hasnt happened in my years of mmo gaming, think I can say rightly many others havent seen this either, maybe its the fault of the person that caused people to have a go at them, theres always 2 sides to everything.

The TOS has nothing to do with how I find your attitude, its players with this attitude youve displayed that basically want to take the freedom of choice away from players and as long as it cant affect you personally, nothing else matters, you dont seem to consider the other person in the matter, the good players, maybe they dont want to boost others.

It has happened to me personally on FFXI. It's the sole reason I hate 3rd party tools with a passion. If the group finds a person a problem in the group on said encounter, they have the right to discuss the issue and if they find removing such person, its their right, you cant say they arent allowed to have a say in the matter, what you are asking for is making them do things against their will and forced, which is bad.

How is it a freedom of choice when the playerbase is wanting a tool they can use to push players out of content unless they are high-end raider level of play? The TOS has nothing to do with how I find your attitude, its players with this attitude youve displayed that basically want to take the freedom of choice away from players and as long as it cant affect you personally, nothing else matters, you dont seem to consider the other person in the matter, the good players, maybe they dont want to boost others.
Not everyone is BlueGartr tier of play, using them as the measuring stick is what the community tends to do. When people parse others they judge not based on the encounter as a group, but based on what the 'expected DPS should be'. That 'expected' is set by the raiding community, with BG at the top. Now, how is anyone going to improve if people are going to use parsers to keep them OUT of content rather than using them to help improve them FOR it?

Whats happened to you personally is like I said, 2 way street, youre only mentioning what happened to you, not what you did.
Players have a choice who they want to play with, these can range to whatever, yes this is freedom, what you are suggesting is, they have no choice on the matter, people need realistic expectations in how they approach things, its not the requirement of good players to take those struggling through content, not at all, you havent even considered the thoughts and feelings of those who play well have you. You cant restrict them with no say on the matter otherwise they get a banning, how messed up is that. Boost me or youre getting a ban, this is why players with your attitude are the bane of mmos.

The bar is set by what the group can actually do, and also, its the players choice IF they want to help, not expected to, this is the problem, they need the choice, not be their job.
People should find ways themselves to improve if needs be, theres no reason to why they cant.

So you'd rather a game where people don't help anyone except the raider elite and everyone else gets frustrated, quits and the game dies out due to limited consumers? Sorry if I disagree with you and think HELPING people rather then kicking them is the better option.
Well there are the level 50 training dummies in Whitebrim, west of camp Dragonhead.
Practice your rotation until the mob dies the fastest. Basically you keep practicing it until it becomes muscle memory.
You can tell when you fully memorized the rotation based on how quickly the dummy dies, no parser needed (although I am sure it would help). This helps you not only on pressing the buttons in the right order, but responding to any job procs (straighter shot for brds or thundercloud for blms, etc.)
It will show your DOT damage as well as direct damage if you set the ui to show damage on screen, so you can eyeball the numbers to get an idea for gear sets and etc..
Now I understand that some players want to be casual about their gameplay and not put in the effort required to practice like this, which brings me to one question for you:
Why should anyone want you in the party if you cannot make any effort to bring the damage?

Again, not commenting on whether 3rd party programs that parse game data are good or bad. But according to SE, in their most clear language yet, yes they are TOS violations, cheats, and are considered ban-worthy (as in, bans have already been hammered and more can be expected). Catching those who use dps-meters, radar programs, and other 3rd party programs that parse game data may not always be easy, but continuing to argue that SE does not consider them bannable TOS violations is not really an option.
--------------------------------------------------
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.

Would you rather do 34^61 by hand, or with a calculator? You are the former, anyone who uses a parser is the latter. Is this cheating? Nope. Therefore, your assertion that using a parser is cheating is equally as wrong.
