If a real life issue came up, a 1 minute cd before they can re-queue shouldn't be an issue - most likely they won't notice it.

A lot of reasons are out there for why your duty cancels. People are watching movies while q'd and don't have the game sound on while minimized, they had to go pee, getting a drink, kids were jumping on the couch and one fell off and bumped his/her head....etc. Some are just looking for that speciffic area in a duty (KB in CT, 2/4, 3/4 in ST) etc.. A penalty will not stop it. I also don't think a penalty is fair. Things happen that cause to you miss your Q, sh*t happens. One shouldn't get a penalty for that. Players are who they are, they will continue to play the way they want to play, regardless of how much waawaa goes on.
Then maybe you need to get your priorities straightened out before using the DF. Don't inconvenience everyone else that were waiting. Life happens. Get over it. I am not paying a monthly sub to wait on people.
Apparently you are. There is rarely a moment when you log into the game and Q up that you are insta Q'd. For me happens sometimes when on PLD or WHM. Other wise you are doing what? Waiting. On who? Other people. The only time you are NOT waiting on others in this game is when you are doing things solo, story, side quests, crafting, etc.
Priorities? Really? If FFXIV: ARR is a "priority" in your life...well then, that says it all I guess.

I'm not waiting on people who weren't ready. Wait times for many instances is bad enough and if you have to do something else, do yourself a favor and withdraw so that we can get people who are ready and willing to get started. This is a group effort, so make the effort to be prepared. Just because you have your proprieties outside the game doesn't mean that me or other players in the group should be forced to wait several more minutes waiting for several players like yourself that keep withdrawing or timing out. I made the time to play and ready up for instances, you can do the same.
I know you will say "it's just a game, don't take it so seriously", but don't act like your needs should be imposed on other players that were queued up and ready to go just because you think game is just a game.
There is no thinking that this is just a game, it is in fact, JUST a game. Don't assume that I am an individual that withdraws multiple times or lets my DF time out because I am not. It has happened plenty to me as well, but I find no need to persecute those that do so. I dread the day where you are Q'd up or playing in a duty and life steps in with something that needs your immediate attention and needs you to step away for a moment. How would you handle that, propriety, as you put it?I'm not waiting on people who weren't ready. Also...wouldn't a player withdrawing from the duty finder because they had to do "something else" as you suggested, only contribute more to the issue you are complaining about?
