Recruit A Friend and Free Trial Questions

Hey all,

Been poring over the threads on the Recruit a Friend process and how to use your code, but I am unsure about a few details. For starters, should my friend be able to use the code prior to having a version of the game (trial or full account), or do they have the ability to enter the code sometime between me sending the email and their first 30 days with the full version? I know with most other games' referral services that the code has to be used to create a new account, but there doesn't appear to be any place to use it since all it wants from him is the full 20 character code for a copy of the game. Note that all he has done so far is create a Square Enix account and receive the recruit a friend email. Thanks for any input or help.

Your friend will be able to enter the Recruit a Friend code after they purchased and registered the full copy of the game. However, the code can only be added before purchasing additional subscription time (30 free days that come with full game do not count).

Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm his. My friend has registered a new square enix account and used my referral code. He bypassed the free trial and bought the game and started his character. Now I understand that the reward won't come until after he subscribes, but that's where I'm a little confused. I thought I saw that the rewards will only show up immediately if you use a game time card. Is that correct? If he subscribes through credit/debit will the rewards not appear until after the appropriate time has passed? That seems odd to me since I received veteran rewards for subscribing immediately. Any additional info would be appreciated!

If he pays with credit/debit (or with Crysta) he's not charged until the time the next month's subscription fee is due, which would be 30 days after purchase/registration of the game. The rewards come when he's charged for that sub time.

Veteran rewards work the same way. You can't get veteran rewards until your subscription fee comes due, unless you purchase with a game time card, because that's the only payment method that lets you pay in advance.

Thanks for your responses. So far my friend is loving the game and will probably have a full account before the end of the week. So in order to get the chocobo he would have to use two time cards since each only provides 60 days?

If they are using time cards, they will need to use two time cards. Otherwise they can subscribe for 90 days.
