Fisher with Max gathering,my experience so farf.

I got my Supra few days ago and my feeling atm is that im getting more fish away than before.
I thought i would catch pettry much almost 70% or 80% of fishes with supra... but i fail most of the Olgoi and same with other fishes that need 380 gathering, im not sure whats the experience of other ppl with the supra rod but im starting to think to switch back to my old rod lol.

I always use FC buff+ food.

I couldn't agree more. I 'feel' like i'm catching way less green fish than before. I've yet to catch an olgoi since getting supra, same gear elsewhere..... same buffs, same food.... G381/P312. I've been spending a lot of time fishing, but it's starting to seem like it was pretty silly to invest in the supra. 381 gathering and fish I caught with foragers gets away now...... so lame.

Hmm almost dont want to get one now LOL. I wonder if having lower gathering makes it better? I got all in at 383 for the desert fish and Shark Tuna and they all get away. I'll try staying at 349-359 and see if I get better results

I heard a rumor that higher perception acutally makes it harder to catch the fish. Since perception essentially makes the fish "bigger" it could have something to do with it. Something to keep in mind. I caught all 3 Olghi within 2 heatwaves at 348 Gather 250 Perception using the i55 Rod. It may be worth while to re-purchase the AF rod from the calamity salvager for farming purposes and save the Supra for the 379 Frilled Shark and other Big Fish.

Your correct on this. Perception works in two ways. First up to a certain point, like Mining and Botany, perception will increase your chance of HQ. There is a cap to this though. However, for 'Personal Record' purposes, perception also influences the size of the fish. So think of it this way: Cast > RNG rolls type of fish > Perception check/roll for NQ/HQ > Perception check/roll for size > fish type + size modifier comapred to gathering > sucess/fail returned.

From the testing i have done so far I haven't found anything to refute this yet. Someone with maxed gear can do this more easily then I by fishing without your shoes on and using gathering food that does NOT give perception.

because of this I mass created a bunch of Crowned Pies which give gathering but not perception. I think if you have a lot of gathering/perception you should consider using those as your fishing food.

If this is actually the case then it needs to be fixed. There's no way this was an intended result

Fish getting away is frustratingly common, especially for ones that have a narrow window and it's already extremely unlikely you'll even get it on the line. I'm at 27/50 of the new fish in 2.3, and I've found that the chance of fish getting away has to be around a whopping 50%
