If this was something critical or important, ie not optional, you might have a point.Well, let's just agree to disagree. The contract workers I have used for translation have not been bad at all. That assumes that this company doesn't have translators on staff (which would surprise the heck out of me). SE may or may not offer translation, but I will just rest with my contention that a multinational and publicly traded company with significant foreign markets should offer translation for those markets in a major marketing or publicity event.
and? the point it's there we are left out of the live event, worst they are throw at our face like this. it's like we are second rate citizen, i'm really angry after 1 years, it's time to rethink the communication! we need to get the live letter live translate, error it's bound to happend, but it's them work to make sure error are corrected, we are not totally stupid to the point to think that no error will be made into this.
what i'm angry it's because live letter don't even have translation posted later, we are just left out. and that rude, you can try to find any good reason, it's only insulting all the player that are not japanese, like we don't deserve to have the information or be part of the fun, we are simply push out.
it like we are trying to enter a clubhouse and the bouncer don't let us enter because...we are not japanese!
Welcome to how the asian fans feel about NA based MMO/Game streams. Know how long it took for the JP fans to truly start getting the Mass Effect love? Japanese company and Japanese development team - Can you show me Blizzard's streams that are in any language other than their primary language of their dev team?
I don't want this to come off as an angry post, bur rather just a factual post.
It is true that SE needs to do more to involve the non JP community in things. For us English speakers we've had a grand total of two live letters and two episodes of Duty Commenced. (Unfortunately we shoot ourselves in our collective feet there by complaining that the community team doesn't give us enough new information rather then acknowledge the fact that SE is making an attempt to include us.) That's a grand total of only four things we've been truly included in in the last year.
imagine the german and french community, we even have trouble to get information on our forum. on the french forum we still have a post-it with pre-information for the 2.2....
most of us need to come here for get any information, that not acceptable. that not normal, angry? indeed, who will not be angry when they are left out of the fun... do you like to look the other have a party from outside? me no... i prefer be part of the party.
the point it's since the 2.2 the communication of SE have become a huge trouble, we have hard time to get any information from japan, and it's hard to accept it, it's like we are not part of the community, i have even begin to doubt that we are listened.
the situation before was acceptable because reinhart was helping us to be part of all of this, he was doing a massive work for all, i will never thanks him enough for this.
but since he is gone, we are simply leave in the dark.
- no translation of the interview on the japenese newpaper
- no translation of the dev intervention on the japanese forum
- no live translation of the live letter...
its a lot that we are missing. it's time for SE to work them ass for give us what reinhart was doing alone for them! it's them jobs to give us all the information we deserve.

14hr live letter? That's insane... @_@ Good luck Yoshida+Dev team!
Also, good luck to whomever is going to be translating!
@ OP
Tbh, I'm pretty this will be handled in much the same way as previous live letters. We will probably have a live unofficial translation. Although after the last unofficial live letter translation that I saw, I wouldn't be surprised if people stopped doing the unofficial live translations.
Although, the community reps have been really good about updating the Q&A fairly quickly during and after the Live Letter.
Now, while I understand your frustration being pissy about the whole thing won't help your case.
If you need to blame someone, blame the ingrates of the FFXIV community.
They tend to have a very loud zealot like approach to these live letters and what is said on them. They take everything that is said as if it were written in stone or some such.
It makes it very difficult to have a good communication when all you ever get is a mob mentality and nerd rage.
However, as someone who is bilingual and as well as someone who has had experience with live translation I will tell you this. It is difficult to do live translation. The difference between two languages can be very difficult to overcome. It isn't as if you can say 'Oh, hold up. Can you repeat that again? I didn't quite get that" and expect to be listened to.
If it's as fun & fact filled as the last few letters, 14 hours should provide about 5 or 6 whole minutes of interesting new material.
I feel like if it would have been posted on the JP only lodestone, someone like you would still be trying to complain about how we are left out and how it's not fair and blah blah blah pay attention to me.
Seriously, you are blowing a lot of this out of proportion. Sure, more interest in NA communications would be nice, but you saying you feel insulted that they left you out is just petty. There will be a translation, it just won't end up being live. As Hyperia mentioned it's rather difficult to do live translations, especially Japanese to English. Things just don't translate well enough.
The script you're talking about would be what the community team uses to populate the Q&A thread. It's likely that PR needs to approve any official translations. If you watched the E3 Letter you know how difficult it was having Ferne as an interpreter. That Letter probably took twice as long as it would have untranslated.
Its worth noting that patch 2.35 will also be occurring around that time, so they could always implement some sort of anniversary event to go along with the 2.35 tidbits.
That being said...eh, I honestly don't care about it being in Japanese. Are we missing out? Maybe, but not much really. Its always interesting to read the translations that surface on the interweb, seeing the members of the FFXIV community put in work for the benefit of everyone else.
