This is why he got rid of 'shell', having to manage "too many spells' was deemed 'stressful.' It wasn't about balance. Besides, killer effects are in no way unbalanced or would cause imbalance - the fact you can plop virus on an enemy is more balance breaking than a short paralyze effect.
