I would like "Killer" traits return

So, leveling DRG through Stone Vigil, I realized, "There are a lot of dragons here! I should be killing this things a helluva lot easier!" I used to play FFXI, and I remember Dragoons had Dragon Killer, which gave them an edge in fighting dragons. Beastmaster had Beast Killer, Paladin had Ghost Killer or something that gave them an edge against the undead, etc., etc.

It would really be nice to see these kinds of traits return.

Prob went the same way as the elemental wheel. It would be too "stressful" for players.

Unless they made it so it only works in open world I don't see it happening, just because....

It's nothing about stress and more about balance.

If dragoons could deal more damage to dragons, as logic dictates, how many people would have taken non-dragoon DPS to t5 back then? Or if you add certain elemental resistances, why would someone take a BLM over another DPS who can do full damage? Balance ends when people are excluded from content just for playing certain class.

The "Killer X" traits didn't make you do more damages, it make the mob be intimidated by you

Saying "stressful to players" is Yoshida's words and his word for: "It would make the player have to think, we want everything simplified." This is why he got rid of 'shell', having to manage "too many spells' was deemed 'stressful.' It wasn't about balance. Besides, killer effects are in no way unbalanced or would cause imbalance - the fact you can plop virus on an enemy is more balance breaking than a short paralyze effect.

I still believe there's more to that, like balance issues. But either way, what exactly is a killer effect? From the OP I thought it would mean a damage increase.

Like the elemental wheel, it's based off... let's call it the beast wheel.

Used to love seeing that text "[X] is intimidated by so & so's presence".

Could be a neat to see it in a gimmick weapon or perhaps in certain abilities / minor passives. "dragondive, may activate dragon killer to minor dragonkin". In the world Yoshida is making though it would be OP if it could apply to serious fights. Since Yoshida is making the trinity and only the trinity. Dragoon has to be able to take the monk slot, duty finder will implode otherwise- party finder will be biased, people will not be able to play the class they wanted and design vision will be divided.

Edit: I see people are talking about FFXI's.. In the case of a stun I suppose it could work so long as it is very short and the monster can build resistance to it (and that resistance is not shared with other stuns).

I wish there was a shell spell in this game since as a SCH I can't buff my party against magic damage like a WHM can.

Example, if you're a dragoon with 'Dragon Killer' effect and you fight Dragon type enemies, when they're targeting you there's a chance you'll intimidate them, which in XIV terms would basically be 'a chance for a 1-2 second paralyze effect' which will give you breathing room. So it's not HUGELY useful, but it for tanks and the like, depending on how SE would have handled it, it can be useful for mitigating tons of damage in the long run.

The other effect is the Blue Mage version which raises/lowers your damage against certain family of enemies, it's, as stated, a type of 'elemental wheel', only in regards to you vs monster families.
