    Time for Coil?

Alrighty, So after a few months of playing, my SMN is finally iLevel 90! I've got my Zenith weapon, and currently gathering Atma. I'm feeling pretty spiffy in my ST gear. But now I feel like I've kind of hit a wall. Not sure what else I need to do next. So my question is this: is it time to start looking at doing Coil?

Now at the time of this post, I've never touched Coil. It's always seemed VERY intimidating. I know nothing of it, other than evidently it's hard as hell. I have some friends that look down on it as an elitist-only activity, but I myself have no clue on the subject. All I DO know, is that I'm ready to start doing something new and working towards more end game fun!

So...at my current iLevel of 90, is it time for me to take my first step into Coil, or should I be focusing on something else?

As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Sure! Technically, a relic weapon and ilvl70 gear is enough for the first few turns of the first coil, you should be well prepared gearwise.

Cool! I appreciate the response! I'll start doing some research and dive into it soon then! Quick question: is there any sort of limitation on the loot like in ST? Or is anything potentially free game? Again, sorry for my ignorance, I've just never thought I'd get to this point!

Go for it Code! Coil is a place to take all that group learning you've done, your most kick ass rotations, your well timed emotes and just go crazy !

There's a 20% buff on the first five turns iirc, so it's not too bad, and you're more than geared enough for it. Get your teeth in!

You never know till you try

You can pretty much pug/df the first 4, get some nice lil drops from them. T5 I'd personally reccomend a group of friends, a lot of discussion about how you're going to do it. For the sake of the "oh wow" factor, i preferred to go into these fights first time not knowing what was coming, but once i got a butt-whuppin i went and did a bit of research on it xD

Sounds great! I'll most definitely be attempting it tonight then! I've got some friends that I'm sure will want to give it a shot as well. Any tips I should know before jumping into the fray?

As far as tips for your class go, I got nuttin' lol. I've always played healers or tanks.
Coil in general - Deep breaths when you've wiped on T5 for the millionth time. T1 - 4 really, you'll be through them so quickly you'll wonder what the fuss was about!
T1 - Be ready for the split on the boss
T2 - I've only ever done enrage tactic (means the last boss uses one attack over and over) so the fight is pretty much on your healers (a bard helps wonders!). Failing having a bard there, have your healers set up a macro saying "i've just used medica" or whatever aoe, then you're other healer knows it's their turn to cast, it really helps with mana for white mages, as it's the usual killer on that part.
T3 - Skipped it, i should really go back and do it at some point.
T4 - Honestly no idea xD I got lucky with the group, stayed near our groups other healer, and just hoped
T5 - This is where the challenge kicks in. Be ready to wipe, take it on the chin, and just enjoy some difficult content! (I'd reccomend a video on this one at some point, lots of things going on).

Cool Divine! I appreciate all the help! I'll keep it all in mind. Also looking forward to seeing some new loot! I've run ST and CT so many times, I'm just excited to see some different stuff drop! Is there any sort of limit on the loot like in ST or is it set up like a standard dungeon where you can roll and potentially get as many things as you win?

Turn 1 to 4 is pretty easy, the only thing you need to know is positionning yourself. 5 is a little bit harder, try running 1-2 times without watching the video, but do watch it after. There is no loot lock out, so you can loot on everything and there is no weekly lock-out, so you can run it as much time as you want. You can also try doing Leviathan Ex, it drops i95 weapon, similar to turn 5 (turn5 is better). You will also need to hit the ACC cap to make sure you never miss, you can find more info on this website http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...thing_coil_19/ . Enjoy your first coil, it's very fun.
