if youre trying to sell something for its "established" price, and there are 15+ different stacks being sold, you wont get the amount you want.

    best example:
millioncorn sells for 150 gil NQ. someone sold 6 of them for 1k each. there werent up for sale.

conversely, if you want to sell an ornate window for the "established" price of 6k, and there are 15 you probably wont get that price. people are sell according to supply.

on another note, if you see these undercuts, and its a fast selling item, yours will be gone soon enough. the fact that you spend so much time adjusting works against, as the item isnt on the market when you have your retainer out. leave it for some time and itll sell. if it doesnt sell fast, you cant expect everyone to sell it at the price you feel is correct. and, if these are undercutting, why dont you buy them and sell them for what you wanto to, its easy profit.

all in all, its an economy, it wont be exactly how you feel it should be, it fluctuates.

People are a product of their environment. Blaming the community is silly. Of course people are going to undercut to sell their item, with how the devs designed the marketplace the fastest and most efficient way to sell things on it is to watch it like a hawk and adjust prices accordingly. Yes, you can just let your items sit there until they sell...but with how this market is, that may not be for days.

I listed 12 command 3 on market for 33333, I check market 30 minutes later a lot of same materia was listed for 25000....I left mine alone... 2 days later all 12 were sold in the same day for 33333....check prices history if u know they are selling at ur initial listed price than leave ur price alone YOU are part of the problem by going back to adjust price.

The best thing to do is search out what is in low supply and make that. I know the pain of undercutting and over supply. I put up 2-3 of an item, then someone comes around and throws 10-20 on the board at a lower price.

And as mentioned, rate of sale vs supply i a huge factor. I get a tonberry minion from a map and see 3-4 on board for 300k. I toss mine up for 300k as well. The next day, none have sold and prices start dropping. I drop mine, they drop theirs etc until finally I sold mine for less than half of the original price.
It's the same concept behind grade 4 materia being 3-4 times more expensive now. it's all about demand.

And how would you sort that list? If all prices are the same, only quantities differ, the buyer will never purchase from any but the "first" person in the list with a desired quantity.
Do not forget, much of the complained about undercutting is as much about being at the "top" of the list, as it is about the getting the sale first.

System is fine for a mmo. Simple and easy.

Check prices of other vendors AND look at sales history.

You can then see how often it sells, the average price, and see if the product you want to sell is currently over flooded by other vendors.

Then you put your price and forget about it, if you did it correctly you don't have to correct prices that often. I only do it once a week if needed.

i put up 20 different itme at a time, sometimes more, yesterday, everything finally sold. some of those items were there for 2 weeks, and got me quite a bit of gil. if you cant wait for a good price to sell, lower the price. there is no sense in trying to change the system because you cant get the sale you want in the time you want, dont be so impatient. thats why we have undercutters, they dont care how much they get for it, they just want it fast, thats why some things are getting cut by 80k. if its a good price for an item, it will sell, you just have to wait.

i wont lie, i undercut from time to time. im putting up a stack of 99 for the same price as a stack of 30, im not going to get it sold for a while. so, my price for a full stack can be anywhere from 30+ gil, depending on the normal price and how much is being sold at one time.

When you set your price, try that : "would I buy it for this price ??"
Sometimes things don't sell because the price is to high for what it's worth... For example, some item doesn't sell at all when they're above 15k and sells really fast when they're 10k.
If an item doesn't sell for a week : the price is too high or there is really not enough demand compared to the offer (both are more or less linked).
