Udumbara could have something to do with The Evil Seed fate, maybe? It has small mobs, "Sapria" that spawn around it.. maybe just kill those over and over? xD

Searching via Google I found this: Udumbara
The fruit from this tree looks like a Persimmon - and if you remember the Persimmon is gathered from a tree in the Dimworld in The Fringes. It could be that Udumbara is something like Minhocao.

About BC .. well, it seems kinda strange to me that the Chocobo is that much needed. So another Nandi/KB/Gamma but this time with the Chocobo out or flying on the Chocobo..?
For now I'm doubting that.

I have to say, I am inclined to agree with this idea. Do you think many will be needed?

As for Bone Crawler, I don't suppose there are any FATEs that are anything like a merchant or escort mission in the area? Otherwise, I would hazard a guess that having the chocobo following you would be most likely, as opposed to being mounted. Alternatively, doing fates or killling mobs with your chocobo, maybe?

I'm doubting that Udumbara is going to pop via killing mobs/fate. We've already got one of those in this expansion: Orghana. What we don't have is a gathering pop yet. I'm willing to bank on it being Beech Branches.

As far as Bone Crawler is concerned, it COULD be passing over its spawn location with chocobo companion out. If so, SE was extra lazy this time around considering we've already got the Gamma/Toy Alexander one. I'll go take a look around at the FATES in zone and see if anything makes sense

Though I still have to raise my botanist level, I need a lot of Persimmon anyway, so I am going to try and get a load of them and hope to get a pop. Remind me when the post-maintenance cooldown should be up?

I'm going to put my money on Udumbara being related to kudzu, and not persimmons.

Kudzu and udumbara are both known for strangling and choking out surrounding plantlife. There are both kudzu vines and roots available to harvest in the Fringes, a bit north of the persimmon trees.

Udumbara
神出鬼没の巨大食人植物、それが「ウドンゲ」だ。
普段は、地中に身を隠して、獲物を待っているらしく、
発見が容易じゃあない。
ラールガー星導教の古い経典に記された、
3000年に一度だけ、花を咲かせる伝説の植物、
ウドンゲの名で呼ばれているのも、発見の難しさに由来するんだ。
一説では、ほかの植物の声なき悲鳴を聞いて、
活きの良い獲物が近づいてくるのを、感じ取るんだとか。
ヤツを上手く、地中から誘き出せればいいんだが……。

Bone Crawler
かつて、東方交易が盛んだった頃は、街道を守るため、
多くの傭兵が雇われて、魔物狩りを行っていたそうだ。
これにより、死滅した種もあったほどらしい。
だが、そんな死滅したはずの甲鱗綱の大型魔物が、
数十年ぶりに姿を現し、旅商が襲われたそうでな。
件の旅商に、チョコボを貸し出していた者によれば、
骨の一片すら、残っていなかったとか……。
この一件以来、「ボーンクローラー」という渾名が付いたのだ。
