It's hard to say if a mac client would make sense for SE. The mac install base would obviously only be a small fraction of the Windows base. That said, it's probably not an entirely insignificant number. As a player, I'm pretty much all for it. The argument of "if they do this they won't have time to do x" is bunk, as I'm sure they'd bring in new team members to do the port. It would bring in some amount of new players... my guess is probably somewhere around 5-10% the number of Windows players.

Apple has never been good at fostering a gaming environment on the mac, and in fact has driven away a lot of great titles in the past. However, the idea that macs are underpowered or incapable is patently ridiculous.

Yoshi is of course right though, most mac users who are gamers own and use a gaming PC. I fall into that camp, but assuming a $30 price tag I'd probably buy the mac client so I can play it on my macbook w/o needing to dual boot.

A mac client would be perfect for me, for those times when there are psn shenanigans. I know the game looks beautiful on my imac, but I haven't figured out the paralells settings. The frame rate is like 1 frame per minute. I must have done something wrong...

the fact that this thread only has 10 pages after 3 weeks, I don't think it will be a wise business move.

Well, luckily it's not our decision to worry about.

If response amounts had anything to do with executive decision making, every Summoner would be in full glowing High Allagan with a full sized Titan Summon zombie mode behind them, Dragoons would be flying around on dyed pink Svara mounts that breathe whatever substance they fancy at the moment for 11,000 damage, and people would be complaining that they need more inventory spaces because it keeps flooding with Atma.

    100% agree here... lol

Also, what I don't understand is if there are people happily playing the game on their PCs why are they coming into this forum to make the possibility a big 'no-no'? Seeing the comments that poke fun at the operating system is easy to do when you can play the game already, but some of us don't have the same products. Yes you can say it's my fault for owning a mac, but I actually get a lot done with it and there are perks to it just like how most video games can run on the PC. So if anything, we all have different uses for our operating systems, but the gaming world is constantly growing. For example, what if business consumers decided it was a great idea to just keep movies and shows on television? It's like saying "Oh, putting movies and streaming videos online would be an awful business decision and it's stupid" when we all know it's actually more prevalent than watching programs on television these days.

It's just another type of fanboy-ism. It's impossible for some people to accept that both Windows and Mac can be good but for different reasons in the same way that it is impossible for some to accept that XB1 and PS4 can both be good, etc. In both cases, some people prefer one, and some people prefer the other. In the case of macs, one can of course argue that Apple does not do a great job of supporting gaming on their platform, which is definitely true... but not a great argument that any particular game should ignore the Mac platform.

The fact is, there is a subset of mac owners who do not own Windows PCs, and are not interested in dual booting Windows, that would be interested in trying the game if it was released for the mac. These people may not even be existing Final Fantasy fans, but would try it simply because it would then be a new option among the extremely limited set of options available to them (in terms of major MMOs, I think WoW is still pretty much it on the mac). I'd like to see it happen, as I have a couple of friends who I could probably convince to give it a go if they could play it on their mac.
