The problem is not hunts, it's the other 2 who are behind a lockout.

It's to late to fix now, otherwise is like promoting a "exploit early exploit often" playstyle.
But it's not to late to fix other content, like increasing the daily hunt reward to at least 50 seals a day or removing the lockout in ST for gears/oils since it's lv100 un-upgradeable and if you are gonna give infinite sands/oils from hunts, then you can give infinite oils from ST.

You can avoid the "exploit early" thing by reacting quickly when bad/unintended trends are forming. Secondly, placing the type of rewards in hunts despite being a side activity was the crucial mistake. Forcing a raise in ilevel to undo the damage may not pan out as we would hope for, either.It's to late to fix now, otherwise is like promoting a "exploit early exploit often" playstyle.

I'd seriously remove the ledgers, replace them with titles and vanity pets and add more gear. Maybe even add a small exp boost to encourage people to do those within their level bracket.
As far as ST, the problem with oils in ST is that to those that do hunts it's not worth sitting through 4 boss kills just to have a chance of seeing an oil drop. I'd probably give all bosses a chance to drop oil, feeding into gambler's fallacy a bit since even if an oil doesn't drop after killing Scylla, people would be enticed to stay for the other three bosses because they would also have a chance to drop oils. Throwing in sands would also help in that regard. This is, of course, on top of making oils and sands purchasable with soldiery tomestones (or maybe making the bloodied ledgers purchaseable with soldiery tomestones).
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
SE really missed a chance in their little update last week. Hopefully they will be patching in some sort of cap on purchasable items like bloody hunting logs to maybe 3 a week. People can still hunt and get allied seals coming our of their ears, limiting the purchase rewards would take some of the pressure off of the hunt.You can avoid the "exploit early" thing by reacting quickly when bad/unintended trends are forming. Its not broken, people that complain that it is broken are people that doesn't know how to do hunts, so they miss hunts. Learn to use macros and links, and you will get most of the hunts every time. Just because u don't know how to play the game doesn't make it broken. It is now getting to the point that the people that does hunts a lot are done already, and are now just waiting every week to cap soldiary so they can upgrade gear. Believe it or not Hunts is actually made for you casual people that don't like to raid. It actually gives you guys a chance to get 110 gear. People that don't have time to play the game can just log on, cap myth/soldiary in couple hours, instead of doing the same dungeon over and over.
I disagree with your assessment of the situation and therefore your call for changes. Specifically the community. I have had more community involvement since the last patch than at any other time since 2.0 launched. Sure, there are some arguments, but it's better than "If you die 3 times I will Blist you!" PFs and the insular world of Second coil where you interact with 7 other people in your FC and 7 other people only.It's been a month and hunts are still broken as all hell. They are unbalanced against the rest of the games content. They promote bickering and fight picking amongst the community. Greif tactics are in play with mob resetting and tanks running the mob around preventing melee players to attack.
So what's the deal? Are you guys actually gonna do something about it? Or you just gonna let this one continue to devalue the rest of the games content until 2.4 sometime in October?
Can we expect similar over rewarding and easily greifable content in the future?
Yes, some people are being d1cks, but they are very much the minority (on my server and at my playtimes [EU Prime] so ymmv). And guess what? You now know who on your server is a d1ck, who is pretty cool, who is funny, who is lazy etc, which is what an MMO is supposed to be about. Not a glorified lobby server for instances.
Oh good. It's the daily "complain about the hunts" thread.
There'll be something else next patch to complain about.
