What do you guys think of the new forums?

On the design side i think the forums look great... especially on a mobile phone.

I like seeing how many great ideas everyone has and hopefully SE will take advantage of all these suggestions.


I feel tho' that there is too many people making useless/pointless comments and just try to attack pple when they suggest something they do not agree with. If you don't like the thread or the topic just don't bother posting. I think the moderators should be a bit more aggressive on that matter?

On another note... now that we have the forums, anyone else feels like we will be seeing a lot less "letters from the producer" or any feedback at all from Square? It's like they think now that we have a new toy were to keep busy and complain as much as we want, that they don't have to keep us updated as often anymore...

Well, aside from 90% of the posts in General Discussion being the same, the forums aren't too bad. I think things will improve when it moves out of Beta and the newness wears off. I wouldn't worry too much about feedback from SE, the letters from Mr. Yoshida have become a thing, and I don't see them disappearing any time soon.

Didn't say they would disappear... just saying i feel we will see less of them, not as often.

ya ppl are not brain storming ideas they are debating others ideas of being good or bad. This community is screaming "fansite" to me. This is ffxiv official forums. A window into the actual games community. If i was a newbie looking for a new mmo to play, and saw 1/2 the stuff going on. I just turn and walk away feeling the community is subpar of what I'm looking for.

I'm pretty agressive in my posting, but only out of the fact that i want this game good. I want to be able to buy it on ps3, and play it. I want this community to be how ffxi was 5 years ago.

These forum are not nice, friendly and newbie friendly. All you have are mindless/souless rants of features in the game. (most with out proper detailed suggestion about a fix) or is about a proper detailed suggestion about a fix and all ppl do is rip it apart because they can't see past how something is currently done. Or just complain for sake of.

Like I suggested markert wards be larger open locations and just because I said bigger ppl complained.

Brainstorming is normally completely useless without discussion. Forums are, by definition, a discussion environment, and discussion can and will include criticism, counterpoints and alternative suggestions.

If SE wanted just brainstorming, the feedback form that we had since the very beginning of the game would have been pretty much sufficent and there would be no reason for a forum at all.

that's , by the way, pretty much the same way in which things work in any normal game development team. If an idea can't survive forum discussion and criticism, you ca be sure it won't survive discussion and criticism between the dev team

Honestly better than the vast majority of community forums go, as far as the people are concerned. Layout is good. Its about time they implemented them.

It's ZAM cranked to 11 in terms of overzealous fans.

I guess after we give this a month or so, people will be tired of making the same old suggestions and get some stability in the future posts. Less bitching and trolling.... more interesting topics to discuss.

Also i find that there is so many different threads discussing the same thing, i wish it would all be concentrated in the same thread. We don't need 20 different threads discussing battle system...Maybe the moderators could just pick one and ask any new treads about the same subject to go post there?

Just wish someone could come up with an idea that will please 80-90% of the players around and like that make it the most popular/most discussed thread so that it gets to SE for sure.
