stoneskin, best way of healing after 1.18

i was at a grinding pt last night R34 fighting raptor. 5 melee 1 mage. at the beginning im doing ok with mp but often go lower 700 (1035 total). and then i come up an idea of useing stoneskin between the cure, and my mp never go down to 900 (only fighting one mob at a time of cause)

u just need to cast scar on tank first and then stoneskin on him( aoe so others can have it too).

it cost only 12 mp, and u can aoe it. cast time is 4.8 seconds with fast cast, im sure any mage can find the right time to cast it. and cool down is only 30 second. ^^

i asked some other mage, it absorb about 400 dmg, it's about a cure II. and u don't get much hate from this. 12 vs 75. u do the math.

can some1 test it how much dmg stoneskin and II absorb please?

Not sure how much it actually absorbs point-wise, but it certainly manages to take a few good hits before being dispelled. In many cases, enough to prevent the need for a heal-toss.

And since heals generate WAY more aggro than stoneskin, all the better for a conjurer assigned to pseudo-white mage duties.

Currently one of the best spells in a conjurer's arsenal.

Would also be nice to test is an ability like profundity (sp?) affects the amount it absorbs.

The easiest way to test how much it absorbs is fight a monster with a known damage attack, 1000 needles from Cactuar is probably the easiest. Experiment a bit to see how many hits until it fires, and get Stoneskin up beforehand then do the maths!

Profundity is good at start when u have time to buff, not helpfull during the fight, would like to know the basic first.

Good idea, have two ppl fight it, one have stone up, 1000 needle will hit him 500 dmg, so we can find out the answer. I wont be able to log in for few days, can some1 who have some time help us to find out please

I always use Stoneskin in my heals because it gives you so much breathing room to either cast other spells or regen your mana.

Did this test a while back.

    Stoneskin:
Damage absorbed = (100 + Mind) HP (Caps at 240 damage absorbed, at 140 Mind)
cross-class absorbs 80% of above (caps at 192 damage absorbed, at 140 Mind)
cross-class with affinity absorbs 90% of above (caps at 216 damage absorbed, at 140 Mind)

    Stoneskin II:
Damage absorbed = (235 + Mind) HP (cap unknown, but above 405 damage absorbed, at 170 Mind)
    cross-class works as with stoneskin

    For comparison:
    Cure = 176 + Mind/2 + M.Pot/3 (no cap seen)
    Cure II = 313 + Mind/2 + M.Pot/3 (no cap seen)
    Cure III = 596 + Mind/2 + M.Pot/3 (no cap seen)

    Enjoy !
