But FF4:TAY nooooooo
....worst class upgrade ever. Storyline wise, and functionality wise. Holy Dragoon!Kain just blew because he was dragoon, but with added superweak white magic.

The way the system is now, it'd require either a different job crystal or a way to upgrade the current one into the new job. Probably be a little convoluted, I'm thinking. For example at Devout / White Wizard, you can add a trait at 55 that increases base MND by 12 and then have their AF2/3 to reflect a "high" level of their profession. That saves the effort of creating a new branch to what we already have. That's only for jobs that basically don't change when they upgrade.Not really. Using devout / white wizard as an example, you'd look at a significant MND boost and new abilities as part of that job upgrade, which a white mage wouldn't have. (Think how a level 50 conjurer stands against a level 50 whm) Keeping that in mind, it might be an awesome chance as well for abilities used in 1.0 (Sacred Prism for example) to be reworked into the game.
Now looking at the other ones;
I have a feeling this would be very close to what Yuna in FFX did. Which in the current setting for FFXIV, be utterly worthless. Basically replacing your party with the summon is not a good method in an MMO. Morphing your character into the summon is equally as foolish. Unless it'd be closer to what Beastmaster should be.Arcanist > Summoner > Evoker
I don't have any comment on this type of transition.Lancer > Dragoon > ...Holy Dragoon? (rofl)/Dragon Knight
This simply won't work. Ranger is supposed to be a pure DPS class. This would imply Bard losing their songs, and such, losing their spot in a raid to something else. Or, it'd be the only DPS you bring because they don't ever have to stop moving to maintain their DPS.Archer > Bard > Ranger
I view this as a downgrade. I also believe it's kind of weird to have a class that doesn't really have many roots replacing two jobs with more presence than itself. Also, Ninja is an assassin anyway so this kind of upgrade is probably unnecessary.Thief > Ninja > Assassin

You must be young, and probably listen to music from Justin Beiber and the Ricky Martin. My post was a reference to Ronnie James Dio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0zMFN6bMlo
You are welcome young one.

This just feels like making the same mistakes again.
Would rather they get rid of base classes and forgo any sort of specialist jobs in favor of one tier of well designed and fairly balanced Jobs.

What would this change except the name? It's not like anyone will choose the non-upgraded version. Nobody chooses classes now.
