A Bards point of view.

I saw the Bard bashing thread and I'd like to share my experiences on the flip side of the coin:

Everyone thinks they know how to play Bard. It's really..really annoying.

1. There are people who ABSOLUTELY DEMAND that you play songs. There are also people who ABSOLUTELY DEMAND that you do NOT play songs. Which group will you run into in a random dungeon? /shrug

2. When you DO play a song, there are people who get upset that your DPS suddenly dropped. Well, surprise?

3. People think THEY know the best song to play at any given situation. Imagine this scenario I have ran into: BRD,PLD,WHM,DRG.

Dragoon ran out of TP.
Paladin was dying.
White Mage is out of MP.

My decision was: Mage's Ballad.

BUT NOPE. The healer yelled at me for not casting Foe Requiem so she could Holy better. Yeah umm... just thought you'd like to heal the tank?

4. In a party composition where all 3 songs would be useful, every person who would benefit from a song asks me for the one they want, and then yell at me when I have to pick just ONE. Because, you DO know Bards can only play one song at any given time, right? In case you do not know, which I really think some people don't, I'm telling you now.

5. Singing drains MP. That is also good info for those who think we can sing 24/7. We can't. Wait a little bit.

In conclusion I would just like to point out.. perhaps you do not know best. Take it into consideration sometimes.

I should not have to be afraid of the trolls. The only reason they stay on top anyway is because they have the loudest voice..

Well, number 2 is fairly irrelevant, as the only people who can tell that you DPS has dropped by whatever small amount are those that run DPS parsers, which you can report anyway if they start calling you on it.

But sure, the rest I understand, it's called the logic and circumstances of PuGs. People who don't know or understand each other trying to comprehend and control others playstyles. Not that I play a BRD at all ^_^

What? Ballad and Paeon both reduce your outgoing damage by 20%. No one needs a parser to know that the bard who is playing Ballad or Paeon, good reason or not, is reducing their dps.

It is frustrating sometimes. Ive been in scenarios where I'd been singing Foe for the BLM in my party thus my MP was running out. Then healer decides to holy spam towards the end of a pull. Tank quickly pulls next set and healer is out of MP. I'm also out of MP. Healer cries Ballad. -_- But it's MY fault...smh. Sometimes I don't think people even look at our MP gauge.

This is a thread pointing out a Bards point of view, or at least mine. You can not reasonably expect for this point of view to be noticed and properly discussed a few pages into a thread that was started with the opposing view. It makes as much sense as going to yell "Kittens rule!" in a dog lovers convention. ^.^
