I did bail early on in the game... true enough. I think I had a char that was getting up there in levels (which really means a couple classes I think my scholar could also have a pet class, one that had a pretty hardcore daemon or something).

I am excited now to be rejoining the fight. But 10 gb... Some of us do have limits on our downloads/month.

So are the updates worth ??

You can't play without the updates so it's a matter of "Do you want to play this game again?"

Also get an ISP that doesn't limit bandwidth.

They've added alot since release, it makes sense that it'd be 10g. You've got both Coils, both Towers, 6-7 dungeons both normal and hard mode, the gear from Coil, Tower, the dungeons and PvP, the ever changing Revenant's Toll, 2 primals... and that's just the stuff I can remember, the list goes on. 10g, I'm surprised it's not more.

Yes, actually I do want to play again. Been long enough to give it another try. And all things told - any game where I can play my chosen name (some grobblehole has stolen my name on every other mmo and every server!) is worth a peek. Though I laugh now I may want to try a diff class!

I think you can do a fresh install, then copy a friend's ffxiv folder into your comp and overwrite your freshly installed files.

Asking Developers to conform to people with monthly bandwidth limitations only hinders the lifespan of the game and is unfair to the vast majority that don't have those restrictions.

For situations like that, there are things you need to do on your end to compensate. e.g. Keeping a backup copy of your install, Downloading at a cafe, etc
